New name or maiden name

Need some information please.

My marriage certificate is my maiden name, and i filled the I 485 in my maiden name (name i use before marriage) is that correct? and I still havent change my name to my married name.

i am wondering the same thing...i am getting married on the 6th of january....and will then fill out the i-485, and i-765.....do i use married name or maiden name

If you are going to be using your married name legally for everything else after your marriage, you should fill out your AOS application in your married name.

You should fill out any USCIS forms after your marriage in whichever name you plan to use legally from now on. It doesn't matter that your marriage certificate is in your maiden name. It is an assumption that a woman will take her husband's last name after marriage. It is not necessary to take your husband's name, it is your choice whether you want to keep using your maiden name or use your husband's name after marriage.

Simple - our marriage certificate lists our names (her maiden name) - We filed for AOS using her new name since she wanted to change her last name to mine. Don't be tricked into assuming that you have to use the name on the marriage certificate - not correct (unless you want to retian your old name). Also its painless and free at this point. Later on - it wil cost you and be a lot of hassle. Good Luck

I am a K3 holder and everythoing was filed in my maiden name ..but nowiam going to apply for AOS and I wanna use my married name can I put it in the papers of AOS ? but I have nothing to prove my married name except my marriage certificate "which is also in my maiden name"

Can i still write my married name in the Aos applications?

Well, actually i would like to use my maiden name and maybe in the future change it for my husband's surname. When we meet someone we use my husband's surname but in documents i would like to use my maiden name.

then use your maiden name..... just remember that it will cost you $$$ if you want to change your greencard in the future .....

Then you filed your I-485 correctly for your situation.

An afterthought - put your husband's name on the 'C/O' (in care of) line of questions that ask for a C/O as part of the address. And maybe consider including it even if not specifically asked for. Sometimes the USPS has problems delivering mail from the USCIS and returns important mailpieces as 'undeliverable' even though sent to the correct street address. You might want to check with your local PO to find out what name(s) they recognize for your address, make sure that they recognize your name.
