Don't usually post on this thread since I went the K-3 route. However, I can answer this question. IR-1/CR-1s, K-3, and K-1 are all interviewed in the same area by the same group of embassy employees. If you look at the list of interviewees for a given day, you are likely to see a very large number of K-1 interviewers and much fewer IR-1/CR-1 and K-3 interviewees. My experience was similar to Brad's....in that there were a LOT of denials. But, from what we could tell and from what my wife could here in Spanish, it was primarily the K-1 girls....most of whom where there alone.

Mike

Hey Brad:

Congrats again! Why do you think you were seeing a lot of denials? Do you know if they were CR1's? Was it couples or single applicants? I was thinking that CR1 denials were not too common, but maybe I am wrong about that. Enjoy your remaining days in Colombia!

Thanks for the info. That is kind of what I was thinking. I appreciate your first-hand account of what you observed. That makes me a little more relaxed for our upcoming interview.

Dito that Mike, thanks for the information. I think that not only the fact they were K-1's but maybe the fact that they were there alone might have made a difference as well. Maybe not. My file should be sent this week sometime to Bogota and then I can wait some more. Soon enough it will be over.

A big question…if someone can advice us, We never receive NVC receipt date and case number, but we received through email to download the I-864 , we sent it and is almost a month and we don’t have news, some advice please , we don’t know what is the step to follow.

This makes no sense. I have never heard anyone receiving an email to download and file the I-864. I guess it could happen, anything is possible. You need to fill in your timeline first of all. That would help us help you. Call the NVC and have the case number from your NOA2 ready. You are going to want to talk to an operator, you will also need your spouses name and date of birth. They will tell you your case number assigned at NVC which is different than the one on the NOA2. The number at NVC is 603-334-0700. To talk to an operator, press 0 then 5. Good luck.

THANK YOU, I WILL TRY TO CALL

I am planning to accompany my wife thru the CR-1 Visa process in Bogotá. How much time should we expect to be in Bogotá to do everything we need including medical, interview, etc.?

I am currently planning: Interview Day + Next Day Visa Pickup + 1 day misc. delays = Leave 3 biz days after interview.

But I don't know how much time we need to be in Bogotá BEFORE the interview?

Thanks in advance...

Congrats Mark, that was quick. I didn't think you would get one that soon either. If I can only be so lucky. I am guessing I have another 10 days or so before i hear anything but will begin calling next week. Hey Looking, I would think that if your stuff is in order and don't need anything the day before or maybe two might be ok. Because of work I will fly in the day before the interview and leave two days later with Ceci. Of course depending on the day of the interview. If it is on a Tuesday then arrive Saturday but on a Wednesday, Thursdy Friday, arriving the day before. Guess it really depends on your level of preparedness and with your stuff.

If I am married to a Colombian citizen will I have difficulty entering Colombia 10 or 12 times a year and staying approximately 1 - 2 weeks each time? I am certain that US customs will be very curious about my frequent trips, but other than that should I expect any difficulty?

Thanks!
