Yet another question for the CR1 visa peeps (as George likes to say). Did you or have you needed the NOA2 you got from USCIS? We were approved on 05/03 and I still haven't received mine, should I call and ask them to mail it to me or should I just let it slide? I'm just so sick of dealing with those people since they didn't send me the NOA1 untill I called them several times.

Hi Diana, :)

Thanks for thinking about us regarding the interview, yes we got a date for July 12 so we

are really happy.

We did not need that document you refer to, just like JK said, just keep following the instructions

here and you will be fine!

Best,

George & Leydi

Hey Bro,

Yeah, I am pretty stoked about the whole affair, for sure.

The NVC told me the same thing, that the package will be sent out this week, which means we might not get it until the end of

next week. I have the same concerns about not having originals at the interview. If you travel before you get your package

I can email you copies ### soon as I get my info...

We're calling the doctor's office now...

Best,

George

Oh my gosh George, congratulations!!! Now you don't have to wonder about dates anymore.

I just get so stoked when someone from here gives us good news, it's like we're all doing this together and someone else's good news is good news for the rest of us.

I really hope you don't get the same "printer malfunction" excuse when you go pick up your visas.

Good vibes you guys... GOOD VIBES!!!! :dancing:

thanks george, the only thing i'm sweatin' now is the actual appt letter which i think you need to take to the doctors appt. i have to read up on how the other kids did but isn't there a way to get a copy at the embassy? i remember reading something to that effect, if anyone can shed some light that would be fabu. i still have a little time before i fly but i'm thinking of worse case scenario just in case. i'm going to call my wife later tonight to see if she was able to make the appt with the drs.

Hello CR-1/IR-1 Colombia Club.....some of you may be familiar with my "journey" from the K3 Colombia Club...well, thanks to some unexpected turn of events...my husband and I are on our way to a third...YES THIRD...interview in Bogota at the end of July. In preparation for this, I'm trying to speed up his I-130 petition (which is sitting at NVC since May). Yesterday I obtained the NVC case number BGT..... and now I need your help.....

Is there a chance at all (using the James shortcuts for example) that we can get my husband's approved I-130 petition to Bogota by July 20th????? He's interviewing for his I-129F that day, but I would rather avoid the AOS process. I'm not sure if I'm being ambitious with this or not. So far, last night, I emailed NVC (as my husband) with the choice of agent request mentioned in the NVC Shortcuts by Aussie Wench. Anyway, since most of you are on this track, I was hoping to get a realistic idea of the timeframe for NVC to process the rest of his petition.

Your help is appreciated.

Dre,

It's worth a shot. The average time I've seen between the time they assign the case number and case closed is about 2 months, but maybe you can shorten that by using James' shortcuts. You have nothing to lose.

Let me know if you need anything, we've become pros at this CR1/NVC stuff.

Hi Dre, :)

Actually I think not, but you have another option. The NVC process for the I-130 is actually 2 parallell paths as the instructions here say. The shortcut really helps the I-864 path but not the other path as much. We did all the shortcuts and sure enough our I-864 was approved and closed in record time,

but we still waited for a month for the DS-230 leg to finish.

I'm assuming your July appointment is for a 2 year fiancee visa and you wanna change it into a I-130 permanent visa, I doubt you have time in one month to get the NVC to do all the stuff, there are too many stages with built-in waits, but...

When you have approval of both petitions you can request that the Bogota embassy ask the NVC for all the I-130 papers they have on you already.

And you can make sure you have all the needed papers with you to fill out in Bogota.

In your case, I would email the Bogota embassy and ask them to help you do this, since you have already waited a very long time.

Please don't let me stop you from continuing on with the NVC & the I-130, I'm just saying you need to be realistic with the time frame at which the

NVC operates, unless you have a powerful friend who can give your case special processing.

Best,

George

Yeah, you're right George. It's the waiting time for the NVC to generate things that takes forever. But Dre, you could keep going with it and see how far ahead you are by the time you have your interview in Bogotá and like George said, ask the embassy to see if they can guide you through it.

George and Diana....thanks for the insight. Contacting the embassy and requesting their assistance may be the way to go. Since apparently I'm in good graces with them, they may be more willing to help. I'll follow your advice.

i'm leaving the 2nd of july for bogota and yes, if all goes well my beautiful wife will be flying back with me afterwards. i wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the printer problem on us but really, the printer is the least of my worries now. i'm nervous about not getting the appt letter and packet 4 before i leave so that we can have it before the doctor interview. the nvc sent my wife's copy directly to her in barranquilla so she may not get it before leaving for bogota. the nvc told me yesterday that since they sent my wife the packet directly that the embassy wouldn't have a copy of it so i wouldn't be able to get a copy from the embassy. i found this really weird and the rep was a real witch, she was so impatient with my questions so i'm going to call again later and speak to someone else. out of all of the times i've called the nvc, this was the first time that someone was rude. well, at least my copy of the packet was sent out on wed, let's see how qiuckly i get it.

I've had bad experiences with the NVC reps. It seems to me that they have a ton of customer service call and get annoyed every time you ask a question because that takes time for them to answer.

Ok everyone, we finally got the packet from Bogota - This is for the CR-1 Visa. Good luck getting your packets if the Beneficiary is in Barranquilla! Now we know why so many dont get them...it was a JOKE to track them down. It went all over the city for 6 days before we were able to lock them in and commit to getting it to us when they said they would!

Package contains:

1. Letter of Notice that has a bunch of general information and the date/time of appointment.

2. Multiple pages of instruction/recommendations for preparation and modification of the process if necessary, including official notice that the approved Visa is picked up at the embassy the following day at 4:00pm.

3. A copy of the DS-230, with request to have it completed unsigned for the interview.

4. Medical Appointment information - 2 appointments necessary: a Cinic (for sexually transmitted disease testing) and a Medico (vaccinations and general physcial) in Bogota - includes contact information to set up appointments and total cost for both is $285,000 COP.

5. List of the necessary vaccinations and says you must have proof of these vacinations, however if you do not have it you may pay extra for all vaccinations required and get them at Medico.

Has a list saying that the following items are needed:

1. 4 Photos (newer front view passport style)

2. Beneficiary Passport

3. Finished DS230 I and II, unsigned.

4. Registro Civil de Nacimiento

5. Baptismal Certificate

6. Some type of certificate if Beneficiary does not have Baptismal Certificate

7. Certificates of Birth for Children of Beneficiary

8. Certificates of Birth for Brothers/Sisters of Beneficiary if they live in the US.

9. Certificado de Matrimonio of Petitioner/Beneficiary

10. Divorce Records of Beneficiary

11. Certificate of Death of previous Spouses of Beneficiary

12. Certificate of Marriage of Beneficiary's Mother and Father (never figured this one?!?!?)

13. Completed Affidavit of Support (assuming this is the one already submitted with application?)

14. Certificado de DAS (Certificado de Policia - from everywhere Beneficiary lived 16yoa to now)

15. Certificado de DAS (DAS Colombian entry and exit records)

16. Certificado de Tribunales y Prisiones (if ever previously convicted or incarcerated of a crime)

17. Deportation Papers (If ever entered and deported from US)

18. Medical Examination Results w/complete vaccination records.

Everything in Spanish must be accompanied by a translation (assumably with a translator's statement)

Hope that helps you all out there!

Brad & Vicky
