Hi everybody, our I-130 was approved today!

I've been all over VJ announcing the happy news. Just wait until we get the actual visa so I can bombard you with my happy posts!!!!

Congrats!!!!! Karnak here predicts that with some judicious NVC goosing, you will have a September interview date at the latest!

i really don't see why they wouldn't accept the generated one, even without the blue logo since ALL of the info is there and correct. james did a super job, it looks just like the original and james, it was only the logo that was blue, everything else, was black and white, blace text on white paper.

another thing, i uploaded a revised copy to show you where they put an additional barcode to the left of "INSTRUCTION PACKET AGENT", right above the Agents name. i blacked out both barcodes to the exact size on the letter with the one on top being smaller. also, CR-1 was not printed next to the barcode. hope this helps

james, that looks really good. having this will shave off another week to 10 days for those about to have this letter generated.

a question for all, i've been looking at some of the signature timelines but, do you think that this new procedure will have any effect on the date the interview is given? i've seen an average of about 3 months from the time the DS230 is sent to the interview. i'm hoping the date is set for july to coincide when i'll be in colombia but that may be wishful thinking.

I would like to think positive and say maybe yes... one thing is clear, less time is needed for the Colombian spouse to prepare as all

docs have been sent to the NVC already. So perhaps a person could contact the NVC or Embassy and request an expedited date?

(Yeah, SURE, hehehe..) Well, at least I plan to do that, what do I have to loose?

Yeah the 3 months seems like a long time considering most of the paper-work is already completed.

how are we suppose to find out when the interview date is? i read somewhere that the embassy is no longer taking phone calls, is that correct? will the nvc be able to tell me? will we have to wait for the packet that is sent to us? i'm hoping i can get this info asap so that i can plan my vacation and get a good price on airfare.

If the NVC does end up making our appointments with the embassy then we need to call the Department of State @ 202.663.1225 and they will let us know the date. I'm also sure the embassy will send out packet 4 to our spouses with the interview info, but it will be good to know about it ahead of time should anything happen to it.

Again JK, you're our guinea pig on this one. Hehehehehe

The Embassy is still taking phone calls but during those very "narrow" 2 hour windows

on only a few days of the week.

The US Gov't will send out a packet to your wife in Colombia, notifying her of the date,

as well. You can verify with the NVC that they have her correct address, but if they don't and you tell them to change the address, that will delay your case further.

Isn't this whole thing "lovely"???

But see that's the thing. Colombian mail is so bad that you have a 50% chance of getting packet 4 with the interview info.

i called the nvc today, they confirmed having received the ds230 and they told me that after it has been reviewed, the nvc would be setting up the appointment. two packets will be sent from the nvc, one to bogota who will then send it to my wife and the other to me. i was told that i can check back with them to see if an interview date has been set. well, more waiting, but i hope that the nvc will set something up quickly.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like as long as you get your copy of the packet, it does not matter

if the Colombian mail delivers your wife's. You can both use yours. That eliminates some of the

worrying. I hope you get your interview soon!

I guess that would be instructions on providing/bringing the remains of packet 4 -- passport, 4 photos, and medical examination (w/2 photos). Everything else should have been sent from NVC.
