Sure you can call the embassy. I invite you to do so. You have a two hour time frame two days a week from I believe 1-3 pm eastern time. Some of us work and it is very hard to get through. And as Looking said, the local number is much easier to get the same info. For me, I was not concerned that the embassy received the package. I need to know the interview date so I can make plans. I just had a few minutes today and looked at the DHL site for kicks. Today was the first day I called and will call again Friday. Hopefully something will be in the system by then. Mark got his date around the same time frame I am sitting in right now. Looking has been waiting a bit longer but I think that is because he just missed the cutoff for March interviews and they haven't started setting April yet. Just my guess.

Looking4wife and Doug: I hope you guys hear something soon on your interview dates. I would like to see you in Bogota, but I guess that is unlikely at this point.

This is off topic, but I just wondering if anybody might know this. Miller started importing Aguila beer from Colombia last month. I am sure it is only available in particular markets; definitely not here in the completely non-hispanic area of the Florida panhandle. I will be driving from Miami to Pensacola after we arrive in the U.S. Does anyone know where in Miami or Orlando I might be able to pickup a couple of cases of Aguila beer? You can tell where my head is at these days.

Most of the people going through the K-1 or K-3 use the other Colombia Club thread that Peter Miami started in this forum . Look around you will find it. Has a lot of good info and very active.

Make sure you go to page 10 where Oskaryandrea describes the process on how to get your interview step by step, it's very good info. But I would recommend reading all pages since you'll pick up a few pointers here and there from everyone else.

My wife claims that her Instruction Pkg from the Embassy (Pkt 4) tells her that:

1. The visa fee will be paid at the Embassy

(I thought the fee was supposed to be paid at a bank, is this brand new requirement?)

2. I didn't understand whether she said the embassy would accept debit cards only, or both credit AND debit cards?

3. The medical/lab fees are paid at the Dr./Lab, and must be in CASH

(What's up with the Cash thing? Is this new, or is this what others experienced also)

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Looking4wife: You already paid for ur visa, do u remember the IV Fee Bill? you paid US $380.oo, so its done.

Dont worry for that letter, is the same letter for all the type of visas, like just said Mark they dont customize the letters.

Just the K visas need to pay the visa at bank.

The lab and the medical has to be paid just in CASH, at the time of the service.

Hi everyone, just saying hello as I've been posting mostly in the CR-1 forum. Now that we've gotten approved(after 5 long months) I'll be posting here and in the NVC forum.

Package contains:

1. Letter of Notice that has a bunch of general information and the date/time of appointment.

2. Multiple pages of instruction/recommendations for preparation and modification of the process if necessary, including official notice that the approved Visa is picked up at the embassy the following day at 4:00pm.

3. A copy of the DS-230, with request to have it completed unsigned for the interview.

4. Medical Appointment information - 2 appointments necessary: a Cinic (for sexually transmitted disease testing) and a Medico (vaccinations and general physcial) in Bogota - includes contact information to set up appointments and total cost for both is $285,000 COP.

5. List of the necessary vaccinations and says you must have proof of these vacinations, however if you do not have it you may pay extra for all vaccinations required and get them at Medico.

Has a list saying that the following items are needed:

1. 4 Photos (newer front view passport style)

2. Beneficiary Passport

3. Finished DS230 I and II, unsigned.

4. Registro Civil de Nacimiento

5. Baptismal Certificate

6. Some type of certificate if Beneficiary does not have Baptismal Certificate

7. Certificates of Birth for Children of Beneficiary

8. Certificates of Birth for Brothers/Sisters of Beneficiary if they live in the US.

9. Certificado de Matrimonio of Petitioner/Beneficiary

10. Divorce Records of Beneficiary

11. Certificate of Death of previous Spouses of Beneficiary

12. Certificate of Marriage of Beneficiary's Mother and Father (never figured this one?!?!?)

13. Completed Affidavit of Support (assuming this is the one already submitted with application?)

14. Certificado de DAS (Certificado de Policia - from everywhere Beneficiary lived 16yoa to now)

15. Certificado de DAS (DAS Colombian entry and exit records)

16. Certificado de Tribunales y Prisiones (if ever previously convicted or incarcerated of a crime)

17. Deportation Papers (If ever entered and deported from US)

18. Medical Examination Results w/complete vaccination records.

P.S. Does anybody know if the I-864 (to be sent to NVC) form MUST be notorized? I'm doing my papers here

in Colombia, so it will be impossible to get it notorized by a US notary! Did anybody submit a NON notorized

set of I-864 papers and was successful?

P.S. II I am in Colombia, so if I can help a fellow US citizen, who is about to travel here for their

interview, lemme know. But sorry, I can't send any Aguilar beer!

Is that really necessary? Did you guys have to bring that in for the interview? What happens if you don't bring it along?

I was shocked to see that as well. My wife's parents divorced when she was a young girl, so I suspected it would be difficult to get this document. Fortunately, her father was able to obtain/find the document fairly quickly.
