Hello All..

I submitted my I-130 package on January 7, 2014 and received an email notification from USCIS stating : " Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Vermont Service Center for processing."

Is the Vermont Service Center a good thing? Should I be concerned? I heard that this service center takes a long time for their processing.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

To be honest a lot of us who filed in 2013 were sent to the NBC in Kansas where our petitions sat for many months untouched. In my case over six months before being transferred to the California Service Centre and approved with others waiting even longer so I think that by going to a place where actual activity happens you will be better off than us! Be prepared for a wait though as the different service centres are all over the place with their processing but April, May and June cases are being processed at present.

Did your receive a hard copy in mail stating yours was transferred to Vermont? I guess I don't know much about Vermont and transfers there...so trying to figure some things about your case. did you receive a notice in mail stating that it's Vermont? Usually the emails for I130 transfers to NSC, TSC, CSC just state they are transferred, are being processed at local office, etc...the email notices I don't think have stated the actual location of transfer. So I guess I'm surprised that your email stated an actual location.

Also in further trying to understand your case and why cases get transferred to Vermont? Is the sponsor a permanent resident (GC holder) and/or that recently became a US citizen, thus upgrading the petition? Is the beneficiary in the U.S. in some way and looking to later adjust status (file I485)? Just trying to see why some cases are getting transferred to Vermont...as it's unusual and haven't seen that on this forum.

Naturalized citizen since September 2018

I am the sponser/petition (US citizen) and my wife is the beneficiary. I filed the I-130 to bring her here.. She will be coming here to America as a permanent resident and will be a greencard holder.

Here is what I received from the email message:

"Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Vermont Service Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your receipt number XXXX. With the official receipt notice (Form I-797) you may visit www.uscis.gov where you can check the status of your case using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status.

This confirmation provides notification of the date USCIS received your case. This notice does NOT grant any immigration status or benefit. You MAY NOT present this notice as evidence that you have been granted any immigration status or benefit. Further, this notice does NOT constitute evidence that your case remains pending with USCIS. The current status of your case must be verified with USCIS."

since the processing goal of USCIS Vermont Service Center is 5 months. Lets cross the finger!!

Good Luck!!

Let's hope so! Thanks!

They've been doing that (ie immediately routing the i-130 petitions to the service centres) since mid-late October. It should save time, once the immediate backlog is gone through, because you won't have to have an additional wait for the service centre to receive your file via transfer. It should also help to avoid the problem of RFEs for things that you know you sent the first time. (I think that sometimes pages got lost in the transfer process).

It may or may not help you soon, since there are still files from April to January to be gone through, but I suspect there will be an uptick of speed of processing once they get past the mid-October filers (and on to the ones that they already have in their "box room."

By the way, I imagine the box room to look a little like the warehouse that the Ark of the Covenant goes to in Raiders of the Lost Ark!

Love that...Ark of the Covenant from Raiders of the Lost Ark...too funny...

Mine was also sent immediately to Vermont. Processing time...8.9 months! Yeah...what the hell is that??? why not just say 9 months. Sort of like saying the towel is on sale for $8.99 (plus tax)...hahaha.

This whole thing is grueling and the result of Obama's nifty little program to help out illegal immigrants. Hmmmm.

Agree with above posts...mine was sent immediately to Vermont...8.9 months processing time is what they say. If you haven't gone to the website to see how long they say it's going to take to process...go to USCIS Case Status...enter your case #...the presto...you should see how long you'll be stuck at USCIS simply because Obama put 521,815 illegal immigrants ahead of you! If you find that to be objectionable...you should write your congressman about it. And you senator. And Obama, his majesty. And House Speaker Boehner. Alert you local news station, too. The more people who know about this...the better. So, the more people who OBJECT to Obama's egregious program...making the message LOUD AND CLEAR...perhaps our cases will move more quickly through the system. Good luck!!!

Ed and Gina I looked on Vermont's site today and saw the 8.9 months as well and almost fell out of my chair. This is going to take a solid year I think. My hubby knows this will take a long time but I can't tell him it will most likely take that long.

Oh and the $8.99 reference cracked me up! Nice one, lol.
