If my grandmother cosponsors my fiance, what does she need? I imagine there is some proof that she recieves retirement money, but will she need both tax documents and bank statements?

If she gets a pension from an employer, she can get request a letter from the pension or retiree center. I am sure she has some kind of address or phone for where she gets her pension. It is used like an employer letter.

She likely gets social security retirement. Every December a statement/letter is received that states what her new amount starting in January will be. It is used like an employer letter. It is one of those fold up things where you tear off the side strips and open it up. It is not a letter in an envelope.

This month by the 31st, she will get Form 1099 statements in the mail for use with filing income tax stating her earnings for 2013.

1099-R would be from a pension

SSA-1099 would come from Social Security Administration

Either of those would show her earnings for last year. If she gets retirement from the railroad or a government job, those would have something similar but a different number perhaps.

She might have investments showing a lot of savings. A statement from a financial institution would show that.

All Social Security earnings are not taxable so her full Social Security amount is better shown with the December letter stating what her monthly benefit will be starting with Jan 2014.

London will take anything that shows income. They have no "must send" list for an I-134. So figure out logically how you can show a stranger some documentation of her income or savings.

Thanks so much. Being that his interview is on the 7th of February, this year's tax info won't arrive soon enough, probably. But I'll find out what combination of recent, accurate stuff she has.

All that is to be received by Jan 31. It could come next week. Scan it an email to him. She doesn't have to provide originals.
