Hey everyone,

I'm new here, just came across this forum while searching for answers to concerns I have about my girlfriend getting a B2. She lives in Turkey and I have been over to see her a few times, now she would like to come visit me. She has concerns that mentioning our relationship or using me as a contact for her application will get her denied. I can see how they might see having an american boyfriend a risk that she would try to stay, and all of the turkish forums she has been reading have said that absolutely mentioning me will get her denied. Does anyone have any advice here?

Thanks!

Her application has nothing to do with you. Any reference to you will ensure her denial.

She applies on her own merits. She must understand she must prove beyond doubt she MUST return. If she cant do that she wont be granted a tourist visa.

No one here can determine the decision by the embassy but if she doesn't know how to present the case she will be denied. All she can do is apply.

The consulate must assume she will enter the US and not leave. The responsibility is completely on her to prove she will return home.

A good paying job

Substantial assets

Substantial property

Enrollment in a university

A boyfriend in the US will most likely get a denial. Which puts her in a tough spot. They will undoubtedly be asked if she knows anyone in the US. If she lies about you and gets caught. She could face a ban. If she is honest most likely she won;t get the visa.

BUT, Everybody will tell you there is no magic formula. You don;t know unless you try.

Her application DOES have something to do with me if the purpose of her visit is to see me. The only other option is she lists other reasons to visit the US on her application and will list zero contacts in the US.

Thanks for this. It sounds like it may be better to be honest, but it sounds like that will not be good for us.

Many people want their foreign boy or girl friend to visit. Probably half with the intent of them not leaving which makes it harder on the next person. Because so many people fail to respect the privilege of visiting and overstay or use the B visas to shortcut the spousal/fiance process the embassy assumes that everyone will do the same. So it is on the person requesting the visa to show they are compelled to return home. Most young single people from countries that require visas will be denied. The intent of other visas is to immigrate so then you have to prove you have a valid reason to move to the US. Opposite intent , opposite rules. Failure at one does not mean failure at the other.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Well, I've spoken to her about this all, and she only see's one option; to not mention anything about me. She does not want to get denied and not be able to come here. She thinks we can somehow fake our meeting when she comes here, but I'm not so sure. I have no idea what to do. I don't want her to get denied, I want her to be able to come here. But I'm scared of hurting our future options.

Good luck. She should be told that all persons with any type of visa are considered intending immigrants. She will have to offset that concept with facts that prove she must return.

If she simply lies to them she is in jeopardy of a life time ban. Her denial will not affect her future chances unless they find she lied.

Lying is just plain stupid. Why would she want to ever risk getting a ban? She MUST be 100% honest. Ask her if it's worth the risk of her never being able to set foot in the US when she is caught.
