Hi Guys,

I had my medical today, which was a breeze, nothing to worry about if you haven't already had it. The Dr said I had passed today, however he said that the embassy will look over his notes and they make the decision. Do you know of anyone being denied after being passed fit by the appointed Dr? I have a history of depression and he said there shouldn't be a problem and he was fine with it, however he indicated that the embassy makes the final decision.

I may be worrying over nothing but just thought I'd put it out there for comment.

Many Thanks

Claire

K-1 applicants don't need to get vaccinations until the adjustment of status stage, so that won't affect your application (though I'm assuming you did get them at the medical!)

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Hi Guys,

I didn't have my vaccinations prior to the medical, however they told me I could have them done at my GP and take the form with me for my adjustment of status in the US. They gave me a letter for my GP with the required vaccinations. The only ones required are MMR, Influenza, and tetanus and diphtheria, if you haven't had those two in the last ten years.

I'd advise to get them done by your GP because the medical charges a lot on the day for vaccinations and the US will charge a lot too if you don't get them done before you go. However, it's not a requirement at this stage.

That's the advice they have me.

Then is it better have the vaccinations here or at usa?

I'm not sure about DR, but I'd guess it would be cheaper. It's up to you, research it and see what's best. The important point is that it's not a requirement at this stage, but it will have to be done at a later date.

Cheers

I had my medical yesterday and they wanted me to do the vaccinations there; they would have charged me much more than my doctor. They said they won't send me the Medical Examination documentation to take to the embassy before I've sent them a copy of my vaccination record proving I've gotten the missing shots! I was a little annoyed by that.

Also, regarding having a history of depression. I asked the psychiatrist who treated me in the past to issue a certificate that states he has known and treated me for many years and that he believes I'm not a threat to myself or anyone else. The doctor doing the medical examination was very glad I brought that. She said she would have asked me to get one for the interview if I hadn't already gotten one anyway. It can't hurt if you get a certificate that you can bring to the interview, I think smile.png

All they look for are serious communicable diseases like TB, typhoid, AIDS, etc,, and drugs. If you have neither, no problem. But the doctor cannot tell you that you passed, no matter how clean he found things. That determination is beyond his authority. All he can do is tell the consulate what he found or did not find.

As for vaccinations, you don't need them until your AOS, but they are usually considerably cheaper in your native country than in the US, so it makes economic sense to do them there.

Hi,

Yes I took letters from my psychiatrist and my GP, so they have them, they both stated that I wasn't a threat to myself or others, in fact the Dr said it was a perfect letter. I guess I didn't realise that even though he passed me on the day of my medical, the embassy can still deny you during your interview if they wanted to on medical grounds. I guess I hoped that the worry would be over after the medical. What I know now is that the worry is only over once you have the visa in your passport.

Thanks for all your comments.
