Dear Friends,

We are almost at the final stage of this whole immigration thing and now we hit a little bit of a snag.

My wife had her interview this morning at 1:00 AM i.e 1:00 PM her time. The CO asked her one question...when did you first meet? My wife answered the question and the CO asked her if she has the Original Birth Certificate (that was issued in native language), we had only submitted the certified original copy at NVC stage.

She has the original birth certificate in native language at home but did not bring it to the interview since NVC did not require that.

CO asked her to bring the document on Monday and kept the passport with him, did not say if she is approved or not.

What does this mean? Does this mean she is approved and they will issue the visa once they have the document?

Is it possible that she could be put into Administrative Processing which could last months?

Thanks,

Keeping the passport is a good sign, a very good one. I think visa issuance should follow once you provide the document (why didn't she have that just out of curiosity for Gods sakes?). It's akin to going to a job interview without extra copies of a resume.

Not sure about AP but Women don't typically get AP as much.

Good luck.

What we thought was, if we has to submit all the originals to NVC including the Original Birth Certificate in native language then we should have received the checklist and it would have been corrected then but NVC approved the case without it.

Who would have thought that the Embassy would ask for it. :)

It is positive, once the required docs are given they will issue visa. In some cases they can still put it under administrative processing but i dont want to bore or confuse you. Just submit what they need asap! Good luck.

This means she was given a 221g. Meaning she is as good as approved--Since it's only a birth certificate they asked from her, it is all she needs to submit then her visa must be good to go--it's just a bit of delay is all.

My AOS got lost in transit from NVC to my Consulate. In short, they lost our papers. Too bad I only had photocopies with me on my interview. I got a 221g, too. Now awaiting for my visa--others i know took 10 days of waiting, others 2-3weeks others 6 months!!! :-( depends on how fast your CO's review the case after submitting the docs required and how complicated your case is. I think yours is a simple one so there should be no reason to worry. A little bit of waiting is all, So following up is essential...

Hope you guys don't have to wait too long.
