Thanks to you folks, I know that the letters that I have written for us by friends and written by us don't need to be notarized. My husband however is still not convinced and he brought up a valid question. How will USCIS know that the letters are real and not written by the petitioner/ beneficiary? What language (like some kind of statement) needs to go into the letter to make it valid.

First of all, such affidavits carry little to zero weight in the overall scheme of things so focus more on including evidence of time spent together in-person and less n these statements.

Secondly, no special language or statement makes an affidavit valid. If an adjudicator truly has a question about its authenticity, they can reach out to the author. Otherwise, it will be taken at face value.

You have to consider that all a notarized affidavit means is that they were witnessed by a notary signing it. Doesn't mean it was their words. I know a couple of people their affidavit was questioned because how it was worded and they were notarized.

Facetime, visits, pics with family is #1 evidence always. If that helps.

I say go for it. There is no harm in getting a letter notarized, it is very easy to do and usually free to most people. My uncle wanted to write a letter and he had it notarized. I included it in my petition.
