Anyone going? I think Diana and I are going to swing it. Can fly there easily and event tickets are still for sale. Boarding is going to be a nightmare, I think its averaging 500 a night now(((

We had thought about it a couple years back as well. Marina is now almost 6 months pregnant, so it won't work out.

I wouldn't go based on the threat to security. There will be incidents. Probably not at the games or in Sochi but you can expect travelers to get hit, most likely as they travel from the airport to the games.

Unfortunately it is hard for me to not look American( I have red hair and a very American face as Diana would say. I have traveled with her before though through Moscow and Astrakhan several times. I let her do all the talking and typically remain quiet and we have never had any problems. It is when I open my mouth when people really look at me))

Were going to try and go, feel like it is too cool to pass up! Granted we can find a place to stay without paying both arms and legs. She has a couple of friends that are working for the Olympic games so maybe we will get lucky and they will have some insider information

Assuming everything works out for myself and my fiancé in the next few months (interview to be scheduled for late March as she wants to avoid traveling during the Olympics). We want to go to the 2019 Winter Univeriade that will be held in her hometown of Krasnoyarsk.
