I AM ON WELFARE WITH THREE CHILDREN. I AM CURRENTLY SEEKING EMPLOYMENT AND ALSO SIGNED UP TO TAKE TRAINING FOR CNA OR MEDICAL ADMINISTRATION. WE HAVE NOW RECIEVED OUR PACKET FROM THE EMBASSY. MY QUESTION IS THAT WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT PROVING THAT WE WILL NOT REMAIN ON WELFARE AND HE WILL BE WORKING AS WELL AS ME. SHOULD I TRY TO GET A JOB RIGHT AWAY OR WILL PROOF THAT I WILL TAKE THIS TRIANING AND HAVE INTENTION OF WORKING BE ENOUGH. OF COURSE WE DO ALREADY HAVE A SPONSER. THAT IS MY NEXT QUESTION.

2. IF WE HAVE A SPONSER FOR HIM DO I ALSO NEED ONE?

3. WITH THE SPONSERSHIP DO THEY NEED TO SPONSER MY KIDS AS WELL OR JUST ME IF I NEED ONE?

All you need is a co-sponsor for proof of him not becoming a public charge. The sponsor/co-sponsor is soly for him, but they want the income requirement as if it was for all. For example you would be a family of 5 (you, three kids, and him) add the co-sponsor and any dependents they have (IE; spouse, kids, etc) to make the total of the family. So lets say your co-sponsor has no dependent, then that would be a family of 6 (you, kids, fiance, and co-sponsor). So the income requirement the co-sponsor would have to make for the year is 33,500. It would probably help to get a job just to prove that you are able to work and you are not planning on staying on welfare. Your income will probably not make a difference seeing as it would be a new job, but the effort they see I think will help. Hope this helps, and I am sure there is someone who can offer more information. You are going to be just fine as long as you have that co-sponsor who meets the income requirements. WJR

Total in household reflects the sponsor's family size and the intending immigrant.

For example if Sponsor is a single individual this equals a household of one.

merijan, which consulate is your fiance processing through - London or Pakistan?

1. You are the Sponsor. You have obtained a Joint Sponsor. Understand this.

2. Immigrants need a sponsor. US Citizens do not need a sponsor, they are not immigrating.

3. See #2 above.

4. You seem to mis-understand what was stated "in the packet".

What kind of evidence they are looking for is explained quite clearly in the detailed instructions that USCIS has developed for the New I-864 form. If you are having difficulty understanding the written instructions then there is a high probability that you will likewise have difficulty understanding the written VJ posts. Is there a Catholic Charities organization in your area? If so, go speak with them for help with your immigration questions.

merijan, having processed through the London consulate, I must agree with Yodrak that you and your fiance are misunderstanding the instructions for Packet 3. There is no directive in that Packet that your fiance must be employed upon his arrival here, although there is a vaguery of that question on one of the biographical forms.

Look to the example forms here on VJ as posted in the examples. See what you think of those examples and then come back with your questions. I think if you take it a step at a time it won't be so overwhelming.

London asks for the I-134 to be completed. Your sponsor needs to complete this form. Your children and you are not part of the mathematical household equation - only your immigrant fiance. A detailed review of the I-134 will actually reveal to you that household size is not even mentioned..........

1. You are not going to be the Sponsor for the visa. You have obtained someone else to be the Sponsor. (You will be the Sponsor when it comes time for adjustment of status, after your fiance comes to the USA and you get married.)
