Hi guys, this question is about the two I-30 that I filed for my wife and son, who are in México, I am a USA citizen living in the USA.



I sent everything they ask me for, I didn't receive any letter asking for more information or letting me know that something was wrong.


They send me a letter with my case number and the code that allow me to see how my case is going...the thing is, that they received my package on September 6th, and everytime I check the status it says that they are in "Initial Review".


I am getting desperate, it's 4 months without more information, without seeing my wife and son.


Do you have any idea of what is happening, is this normal, someone else had the same issue, it is okay for me to call them and ask what's going on?


Any information would be great!

Hi, and welcome to the wonderful world of waiting! Your experience is, unfortunately, completely normal. They're processing I-130 applications from way back in April or May right now... It'll probably take a good long while before they get to us. And until they do get to us, our status will say "initial review". It sucks, but we just have to be patient. Do a search for September 2013 I-130 filers, and follow that topic. Then you'll find out when September filers start getting some approvals.

4 months is a short period of time right now. They're adjudicating filers from Feb 2013. Hopefully as the service centers get caught up it'll speed up but it's probably best for you to make plans to visit your family occasionally while you wait. There is really nothing you can do to speed anything up. I'm sorry, I know it's difficult.

It's a long waiting game with USCIS. It took us 8 months to get the approval. There are many people who filed in march, april and so on are still waiting on approval. It's sad but not much you can do except for waiting.

I am too in the same boat. We filed our petition and had it accepted for processing on Sept 3, 1013 and we have heard NOTHING. I too share the same anxieties that I've missed something or that this is going to take forever! I am sad for a friend of mine filed a fiance's visa after me and she is already processed. If i would have known that we could have waited to get married :(

How do i go about searching for the September 2013 filers as mentioned above?

2/25/2014 -Transferred to NSC 5/20/2014- DS-261 completed

3/31/2014 -Approved 5/21/2014- AOS fee invoiced and paid

5/22/2014- AOS package overnighted to NVC

5/28/2014- AOS scanned into the system

6/20/2014- IV invoice email (but fee still locked on CEAC )

If you guys notice, go to your timelines, and at the bottom there is an approximate VJ date of when you should hear something. Remember to keep your timelines updated (change the service center if it changes and make sure your consulate/embassy is correct as well)

22 Jan 2013 -- packageSent
31 Jan 2013 -- NOA1 from NBC

6 Mar 2013 -- I130 transferred to Orlando local field office (which started the whole nightmare)

Mar 2013 to October 2013 no one would tell us where our case was or what was happening. I suspected the whole time it was just sitting in a corner somewhere in the Orlando field office. I was pretty much right.

October 2013 - get congressman involved. Congressman asks USCIS repeatedly about our case but they won't even tell them anything.

31 Jan 2014- finally get NOA2!!!! (we think the nightmare is over!)

NVC

Our case was not sent from the Orlando field office as it should have been. The nightmare continues. We kept calling NVC and asking if they received our case, and they always said "NO" and that we had to wait 90 business days for it to be received. We called USCIS during this time and they kept telling us it had been sent. After the 90 days of agonizing frustration, NVC then started telling us we had to wait 120 business days. I got our congressman involved again, and they told the congressman it was sitting at the Orlando office this whole time (just as I thought it was!).

22 Apr 2014 -- NVC received
16 May 2014 -- NVC case number assigned
24 May 2014 -- AoS and IV bills paid

28 May 2014 -- Sent AoS and IV Packages

6 June 2014 -- documents scanned

18 July 2014 -- false checklist from NVC

21 July 2014 -- Case complete

28 July 2014 -- receive case complete email from NV

30 July 2014 -- interview booked! September 11 here I come!

Yes i'm not putting TOO much weight into those dates because really nobody knows. So what part of Canada are you in??

Oh No REALLY??? that's BRUTAL! I would be pulling my hair out!!! How can that be when they are supposed to be processing July ones right now??
