Hello everybody!

First of all I want to thank you all for the support given to me!

Thank God everything went well and I'm finally with my love! I got here on 7th of January and now I am wondering what should I do.

Our wedding will be on 21st of February, so I was wondering if I have to wait till the wedding to apply for SSN or something else that u could start doing.

You should get your SSN now, before you get married. Apart from that, start preparing the AOS/EAD/AP application package.

You can get the SSN before the marriage or after. For women who want the SSN to be in their married name, wait until after the marriage to apply for it and you can bring the marriage certificate to the Social Security Office to get the card in your married name. For men, it doesn't matter as the name doesn't change. You can also study and apply for a driver's license in your state.

Apply for SSN now. Females should apply for it their maiden name, whether applying before or after marriage. That way it matches the data in the system. You can get it changed to your married name later when you get your EAD/AP or green card. SSN in maiden name has no bearing on filing for AOS and using married name for that > http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn
