The man who used the gun... How much training DID he have?tell us.

So is your argument that because this killing was by a 20 year retired cop shooting a fellow cinema goer that proves that training is pointless?

How much ammo should I be allowed for training per month?

payments for training courses to exercise a right are taxes.

see poll tax for background.

Are payments for guns to exercise rights taxes too? And ammunition to load those guns? Regardless as usual you are arguing about the details as if they are more relevant than the point itself. I don't care how the training courses are paid for, I think is perfectly reasonable to assume that overall gun safety in the US would improve if everyone who bears arm is required to take training courses in the safe handling and storage of the arms and the ammunition.

One cartridge and a musket ball

From the person who cannot be trusted with even that.

No it isn't. Professional organisations that handle weaponry and ammunition train their personnel. It's not difficult to understand why and it's not difficult to determine that some training should be required for anyone that wants to bear arms.

I still want to know why one's level of intellect is not considered before allowing them to own a gun. We have folks with 6th grade educations armed to the hilt with all of our lives at their disposal.

Murika!

yes, it is. and i've already stated why.

the concept you mention is noble, as are many grand ideas - yet what organization will oversee this? who will set the standards? what is the likelihood of anti gunners taking over it and raising the bar so high that very few could possess firearms? conversely, what is the likelihood that pro gunners would take over it and lower the bar to make the certification process a laughingstock?
