Hello Guys,

My lawyer filed my I360 and I485 concurrently and just last week on Jan 09, 2014 my VAWA case got approved. Now I getting curious to find out that how much time does it take to get any update on I485 cases. My lawyer is telling me that it may anything between 1 - 3 years to get my green card in hand. I trust my lawyer but still feeling more like hoping that it should get done with in couple of months from now. So, does anybody has any experience recently and share with me how much time it has taken for them.

I do have approved i131 and been out of status briefly in past, but haven't travelled to my country in last 10 years. Now after all the struggle as I'm seeing some light on the other side of the tunnel, i just want to see how long it may take to be on the other side.

Some important details, I'm guy who got VAWA approved and based in MD. Not sure how these facts may be considered in i485 case and AOS interview.

Looking to hear any advice or your journey.

Thanks much!

Topic has been moved from Immigration News forum to Effects of Major Family Changes on Immigration Benefits forum where other VAWA related cases are discussed, as a more appropriate location for this question.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

my empirical observation is that those who submitted concurrently go faster, possibly often transferred directly to your local office; but of course sandranj has observed more cases than all of us combined!

My second speculation is that your local office's workload matters, and that may also be changing from time to time. So there may not be any good answer re: timeline for I-485. But I-360 seems to have dropped to 2-3mo adjudication, EAD card 1mo in hand, SSN card just a few days in hand, DL (with SSN card in hand) instant

For the strangest reasons, there are people who think of themselves as normally functioning in their community, yet hanging around the immigration website with no immigration to do. Like there are no arts and sciences to enjoy in one's life, no good living/breathing people surrounding you, no community to be building/helping

There are citizens who entrap into marriage a much younger foreigner via sponsorship promise, petition that "bona fide" marriage as hard as they can. Then when "bona fide" marriage (predictably) falls apart, they continue petitioning, now for reverse(!!!): doing everything possible and impossible to prove that marriage was NOT "bona fide". Does this second part make any sense?

There are citizens or non-citizens who already proved unable or unwilling to put an effort into maintaining custody of their own children; yet, they spend endless time advocating child abandonment, giving up children into care of the state, deportation of children, labeling "anchor babies". Does this second part make any sense?

There are citizens or non-citizens who have suffered greatly from the absurdity of a huge government enterprise that only consumes human/budget resources; yet they appear convinced that artificial enterprise is not large enough. Does this make sense?

So for cheap seats: whatever lead you believe that PA system doesn't automatically disqualify an able bodied applicant with EAD in hand? Are you really living on-line just to cite inadequacy(!) of government involvement: I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you? Cheering on artificial enterprise in lieu of pursuing real one: that's where America has been heading in recent years. From high skill high income workforce to low skill part-time workforce - and we're just generating votes for this promising trend. Reward lazy birth right to preserve uneducated America. Highly evolutionary; don't wake C.Darwin, M.Friedman or A.Rand for that matter

Brian, yes, your post should stay (Try and find a better school to re-take your only language). As to the Ukrainian you chose to marry - it was your choice; now you post "bump" a hundred times. People get what they want out of life; but men seek to improve, men forge ahead, men raise children, men do projects that others with not quite as much ability can't do. Try and be productive, no use crying over spilt milk

howtosurvive (female in NJ) was processed within 3 months. Lawyers say at least 12 months for I-360; but how long had yours taken?

My i360 case overall took almost 18 months. I initially filled my case in Sep 25 2012 and got the first RFE with in 3 months ( basic character certificate) and 2 RFE came in June 2013 which I submitted in Sept 24, 2013 and after that it took till Jan 9, 2014 to get it approved.

Just another update: As I was waiting on my I 485 case, just now i got text and Email notifications from USCIS which is as follows:-

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity

On January 22, 2014, a USCIS office received this case from the State Department with a request that we review it. We will notify you when we complete our review, or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results

listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current

processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at (800) 375-5283.

*Current processing times can be found on the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov under Check Processing Times.

*** Please do not respond to this e-mail message.

Sincerely,

I dont understand that whether a decisin has already been made on it yet or not as status says post decision activity.

Also I haven't received any Interview notice yet.

Share your thoughts/ experiences on this pls.
