Birth certificate VS passport?

Hi everyone!

Just putting the finishing touches on the I-129F packet. I have a birth certificate, but it doesn't seem "official" enough. It's not notarized and it's just a copy of what they gave my parents at the hospital. It has my name, date of birth and location, my Mom and Dad's names, occupations, birthdates and birth locations. Is this acceptable or should I copy my passport?

If I copy my passport, do I need to copy ALL of the pages and the front and back cover? It just seems like a lot of photocopying, especially since the middle part are "stock" pages that everyone else has in their passports.

Hospital birth certificate probably won't be acceptable. If you are using the passport identity page instead of a BC and not for proof of meeting then it by itself is fine.

I am pretty sure that the birth certificate will be FINE... it is a long version so that is good. Make sure you photocopy it though and keep the original for yourself. If you decide to photocopy your passport, you will have to do every page - that is what my fiance had to do as he didn't have his birth certificate. Goodluck!

I recently received my NOA2. I just copied ALL PAGES ( did not copy the cover ) of my passport and everything was fine. . The hospital birth certificate is not official, just something nice for mom and dad. I learned this when I went to get my son's passport. With the passport there are no questions of validity. Hope this helps.
