Don't know if I should be concerned...I-751

Hi all,

We submitted our application on 9/5/13 and were transferred to another Service Center on 10/8/13 which has happened to a lot of folks here so that's not a concern. My concern is that we moved after filing and notified USCIS of our change of address, but we also changed banks because the other bank was too far from where we moved. I included joint statements from our bank for the past 2 years (quarterly) but if they look into the bank now they'll find that the accounts have been closed. I've seen many applicants get approved that applied way after I did and got transferred just like me. I just don't know if I should be concerned or not. All of our other info stayed the same (joint car loans, bills, tax returns, pictures etc) and we have tons of financial proof. Our binder was over 100 pages. I know the normal processing times are 6 months but I don't understand why others are getting approved before me. I did get an official letter in the mail telling me that they logged my change of address so I hope that covers that..if anyone has insight please chime in.

Thank you

Hello!

First of all, not to worry :) I doubt USCIS will look into that much detail on your bank accounts etc. If they did, we wouldn't had to make copies of statements for every single month the account is valid. I think the main things they do check is background and security checks. They want to make sure you are not a fugitive from another country or illegal or whatever - my guess though.

With that said, I totally understand your frustration over the fact that others who submitted after you are getting approved and yet you are still waiting. Unfortunately, USCIS DOES NOT do FIFO (first in, first out). They claim they do - usually - but not always and it really depends heavily on your case adjudicator. If some likes to take forever on a case they will. There was one couple who filed in April and didn't hear back at all after 6 months. Once they called and submitted a service request the approval came rolling in - no RFE and no interview. Just like that.

Same with me too. I had responded to an RFE and had to wait 60 days to get anything done to my case. There were a couple who submitted RFEs after me to the same service center and heard back within 2 weeks - how does that make sense? LOL

So I can only suggest that you continue to wait until your 6 months is up and then call. No news is good news at this point in time.

Good luck!

ROC Journey:

4/24/13 - Submitted I-751 application

4/26/13 - I-751 officially filed

6/11/13 - Biometrics done

8/14/13 - Rec'd RFE

9/21/13 - Submitted RFE response

9/23/13 - RFE response rec'd at VSC

(about 2 months later)

11/21/13 - Service request via Tier 1 submitted

12/11/13 - Response to service request rec'd - vague info about processing times

12/12/13 - Service request via Tier 2 submitted

12/10/13 - APPROVED!!! (letter rec'd 12/14/13)

12/16/13 - 2nd Service request response rec'd

12/17/13 - Card production email/text rec'd (online case updated)!

12/24/13 - Notification rec'd via email regarding card mailed on 12/23/13 (online case updated as well)

12/26/13 - 10-yr card rec'd!

One thing I have learned on this journey:

There is no such thing as an "overkill" evidence package. Submit anything and everything you can. Who knows what will prevent you from getting an RFE.
