Hi. I have read a lot of information here that have helped me thanks to the people that are very helpful sharing their experiences. I would want to ask from u any information that might be able to help me in my case.

My I-130 got approved at USCIS last year and NVC received my petition just this year. When I called NVC and ask what the next step is, the rep said that I need for my Priority date to be current before they can do anything. How can I expedite my case at NVC? I need to be in the US before school starts at the end of July. Please help.. :(

You are in the F2B category, unmarried son or daughter of an LPR and you are over 21? And you are from the Philippines? They are currently processing applications with a priority date of May 2003. You cannot expediate a priority date. You have to wait for your priority date to become current then processing of your application will continue. It would be slower if your petitioning parent were a US citizen so I recommend if they gain citizenship you request to opt out of that category.

Priority dates cannot be expediated. There are only a set number of visas available each year for family members who are not immediate relatives. The priority dates fluctuate based upon how many of these visas are actually used.

I suggest you enroll in school where you are at. You are currently looking at about a nine year wait for a visa number to become available.

You could try applying for a student visa. Have you looked into this?

hi thanx for your reply, she is a US Citizen, did i just chose a wrong category? sorry just new to all this and I don't have any idea what I'm trying to do here. I am already studying in a school here in the Philippines but because of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake and typhoon haiyan damages to our school, I still have the trauma it brought me so I just need to be out of the Phils asap. I have not applied for a student visa as of yet, we thought everything will follow through after USCIS approved our case.

No you have no other category. You have quite the wait dear. If you apply to a US school and accepted you could try and get a student Visa. But you have a long wait. Sorry.

How old are you when the i130 was filed? Is your mom a US citizen already when she filed the i130?

If your mom is a US citizen and you are 21 years old or above when the i130 was filed, you are under the F1 category (Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens).

Waiting time for F1 Philippines is 13 years. You have to remain single/unmarried during the entire process. Marriage will void the F1 petition.
