South Dakota Governor Signs Abortion Ban Into Law

PIERRE, S.D. - Gov. Mike Rounds signed legislation Monday banning nearly all abortions in South Dakota, setting up a court fight aimed at challenging the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.

The bill would make it a crime for doctors to perform an abortion unless the procedure was necessary to save the woman's life. It would make no exception for cases of rape or incest.

I hope I don't sound sexist when I say... Why is it a bloody man signing this?! As if he would know what being pregnant was like!! I personally know of 2 rape victims and I would hate to imagine what their choices would have been if such a law was enforced. This drives me batty.

Well, I know a rape victim who gave birth, gave her child up for adoption and the family that adopted him loves him very much. He is now 2 years old. His natural mother does not regret her decision.
