Hello everyone,

I would like to thank you ahead of time for reading this more lengthy message and any help/advice you may provide me with. I am grateful for this community of people who have been very helpful through this process.

As my I-129f petition has arrived in Bogotá, Colombia I am now trying to figure out the Affidavit of Support. This will be the most difficult I believe up until this point. Please let me explain my situation and any help is greatly appreciated.

I currently do not hit the minimun financial requirements to support my Fianceé when she arrives here. Last year, I spent 11 months in Colombia serving as a missionary. I made only 11,000 dollars. And now I am in a transition period and am currently unemployed. Though I should be employed within the next two weeks. So should I still attach a w-2 form for last years work even though I will have a new job this year? How do I declare my new job for this year? Should I record both? Can I add an attached statement explaining everything?

Also, I realize I will need a Co-sponsor for my fianceé. My mother has agreed to be that. She currently makes plenty of money receiving both a salary and her retirement funds. Her job is temporary. However, she receives enough monthly in order to meet the poverty guidelines. Should she just report her retirement salary? Or that and the job she currently has? Also, she has plenty of assets and money saved in the bank.

Also, is it necessary to attach both a w-2 form and a letter from current employee? Or just one or the other?

I know I have asked a lot of questions and I will probably think of more. Thanks a lot for all your help! I'll be checking this post if there are more questions!

God Bless,

Mitchell

So should I still attach a w-2 form for last years work even though I will have a new job this year? yes, you will need to attach your old W-2 even thou you did not meet the requirement. How do I declare my new job for this year? You do not have a job yet as of NOW. You need current income, not future income Should I record both? Can I add an attached statement explaining everything? you can but it's not needed (my opinion)

She can report both but if her current income makes pass the poverty, i would skip the retirement salary. She should submit her W-2 then I do not think she need employment letter stating she is part time. Also, she has plenty of assets and money saved in the bank. Assets need to be 5x above poverty line and needs to be able to convert to cash. Liquidity.

Also, is it necessary to attach both a w-2 form and a letter from current employee? Or just one or the other? either or both. I only take W-2

I know I have asked a lot of questions and I will probably think of more. Thanks a lot for all your help! I'll be checking this post if there are more questions!

God Bless,

Mitchell

Mitchell, I'm sorry but it is not wise bring a person to this country and you have no money. The transition and prejudism and shock she will experience and being poor on top of that is salt on the wound. That is your real complication. If you have no kids you should be with her in her country. At least she will be happy in her environment and with you which make her happy. The US is not the place to live on credit and be poor. What if she gets sick? I hope you make the best decision.

June 8 they revieved it

June 18 '07 check cashed got WAC#

No NOA1, touches, or progress given

NOA2 approved Oct 17

NOA2 card copy in mail Oct 20 (Surprise to us)

Package sent from USCIS to NVC Nov 7. (called USCIS to get this)

Nov 15, I got email at 6:57pm that our package was sent to Rio from NVC.

DON"T WAIT FOR THEM TO SEND ANYTHING, CALL AND MAKE SURE THEY GOT IT.

IF THEY DO, GO AHEAD AND SEND IN ds230,ds2001, the pics, and copy of passport

USE SEDEX AND GET THE TRACKING NUMBER.

Interview Set: Jan 29. Found this out on the embassy website under VISA's. It shows a list of visa types including K1 and shows the interview dates.

Visa granted but they mailed it using their own package delivery service. Took a week. Have money when you go to the appointment. They may also make you go and get more photos taken if they dont like the pics you bring. Just relax and dress wark because they keep the place really cold. Make sure your financials mmet the criteria or they will eat you alive.

MARRIED March 22. Sent in $1,010 in fees to Chicago to get change of status, apply for advanced parole, and ability to work documentation. Things work faster now.

May 22'08: Biometrics appointment in Santa Barbara.

Tax returns and proof of current income are separate things. Yes, you need to provide your most recent tax return. A complete copy of the return with all forms, schedules, W-2s and/or 1099s, or an IRS tax return transcript. You can show job offer letter, just to let them know you will be employed, but as you know, it won't count for the affidavit and that is why you need a co-sponsor.

The mother fills out her own I-134 and provides most recent tax transcript(or copy of complete return as mentioned above), letter from employer and/or most recent pay stubs, proof of retirement pay, and proof of being a USC or LPR. Not sure why it was suggested, but do not skip listing and proving the retirement pay, especially because it sounds as if the retirement pay is the stable, ongoing permanent income that meets the requirement on its own. If her income meets the requirement for her household size plus your fiancee, then she can skip listing the assets. She can list her savings anyway if she wishes, but needs to provide bank statements or letter from the bank to prove ownership and amount.

Thanks everyone. That helps a lot!

Now one more question. If my co-sponser will be putting down two jobs, should they fill out two seperate I-134?

No, your co-sponsor only fills out ONE I-134. If there are multiple jobs, you simply write them on a separate sheet of paper as a supplement, and you put the TOTAL income from all jobs on the I-134.

No complete copies of the last three years' income tax filings (which will include the W2s) or the free IRS tax transcripts.

Need the same for both 134 forms, both of yours and from your mother.

Plus about three of the most recent pay summaries.

Did anyone else pick up on what he said.

I made 11,000.00 and was out of the country for 11 months. Not sure what type of work he does, but making 11,000.00 in one month is pretty good support for a new fiancee.
