Hello,

I am a US citizen married to a Ukrainian woman who entered the US with a K-1 visa along with her Ukrainian son who entered the US with a K-2 visa. They both received conditional Green Cards on Nov 5, 2012 which expire in Nov 5, 2014. My 18 year old Ukrainian stepson wants to study in Sweden for a Bachelor's degree. Since his studies will begin in September of 2014 he will most likely be out of the US when he needs to be present for his I-751 biometrics and interview appointments. Can he reschedule his biometrics and interview for later ( say around Christmas or in June 2015) when he is back in the US? Flying him back to the US just for his biometrics and then again for his interview will not only cost around $2000 each time but it will also interfere with his studies.

You apply 90 days before expiry date - that is around August 6, 2014. The Biometric appointment letter comes in 10 to 15 days with a appointment probably around September 6, 2014.

If you get the letter before he leaves, go for early walk-in biometrics, else seek a reschedule for a suitable date during Christmas explain the circumstances - you will have the use the original biometric letter to seek reschedule.
