is it standard for an embassy to deny an application based on length of time in relationship? how about 12 year age difference?. would like opinions of others with previous knowledge of these scenarios.

For the 129 application, you only need to have met in person within previous two years. For the K-1, each country Consulate is different. The general rule of thumb regarding age is anything over 15 years will get you extra scrutiny. Again this varies by the country. My wife and I 20 years. Length of relationship, really comes down to how strong your evidence is. I know a guy who knew his now wife two weeks filed 129f, now happily married. Others here on VJ together for years and get denied.

No there is nothing "standard"

Document your relationship as well as possible. Each consulate makes their own decisions on the merits of each case.

Read the consulate reviews at this site for the consulate you will be using.

having records of visits, email, cards. phone log,

photos with both of U & other friends, know of any past

marriages and name of kids...just proving its real there

There's no standard.

My fiance and I, we are 16 years age difference. I think this matter in some consulate if the guy is younger than the woman. Won't be so much of an issue if the guy is older tho. What matters is the genuine of the relationship.

In JA, they read everything you send, you are responsible to prove to them your relationship. Age has not been a factor other than a 40 yr difference. There is no relationship timeframe, but they want to see proof of an ongoing relationship. Make a timeline of your relationship, and look at proof you have of relationship.

My friend who took me to the Phils. is 59, his wife is 19.,.,..NO questions asked about age!

But, this is the Philippines, and Filipino women DO look for more mature men than some countries, just some info.!

Having met in the last two years, lots of evidence, and the petitioners ability to financially support the beneficiary are what's most important.

Keep in mind that more than 90% of K-1 visas are approved worldwide. You just need to have your details together and have a legitimate relationship.
