Its a long time for me to get to this point, however I have a question.

Does anyone know if you have to use the service provided by the embassy in Amsterdam? Or if there are alternative services closer to home?

And what will they be checking for? I mean I have psoriases (so does my girlfriend but she is the american) its not contagious or transmittable.

You can not use any other doctor than the one in Amsterdam, http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Netherlands&cty=Amsterdam

What you can do is check the beneficiaries immunization record and get the shots you need from the family doctor, it will be cheaper and safes time.

The medical was in my opinion very basic, they check your blood en general condition. I think that it is to see if your have anything transmittable, the same day you go for an X-ray to check if you don't have TBC.

You need to pay for everything on the spot and in cash, no credit cards accepted.

This is the link to the Consulate info page on vaccinations, http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/Amsterdam-vacc-Netherland.htm

I needed the DTKP (in 2011 it was 35 euro's)and was good to go, the doctor also marked a few off them as "not age appropriate"

I was in the Air Force for 33 years and was vaccinated left and rightrofl.gif

Does anyone know if the Hep B vacc is required?

I just got back from the doctor and they are like 57euro per shot for HepA+B.

But it made the doctor wonder if these are required. Since we don't get those shots in the Netherlands when we are younger.

Other those those and the missing DTP (renew which is 18.50 euro) I am healthy and all. He told me that when the time gets there he will have my blood tested and my lungs scanned as part of your basic health insurance coverage.
