Dear god, really? How about auto insurance? I've never had an accident, so by your "non-liberal logic" I shouldn't need it. and ditto for homeowners insurance, I guess? There you go folks, only purchase insurance if you are sure you'll need it, otherwise, somebody else will be benefiting at your expense.

Insurance exists for companies to make a profit. Period. Sure they provide a service, but if you think they are there to do you a favor, you are mistaken.

Owning and having the ability to use a gun is another form of insurance against rape.

As a concealed carrier that was one of the biggest surprises I encountered when I first started carrying. "What the fudge am I supposed to do with this 4lb piece of ####### while I'm crapping?"

The baby changing stations are nice as are flat toilet paper dispensers. Sometimes I have to tuck it in my boot or just hold it. Woe to the man who busts in!

Here's what I do. I have a velcro strap that fits around my leg, above the knee.

When I drop trou i put it around my leg, run the metal clip in my carrier through it, and unbutton the top latch on the carrier.

I put this on my left leg, as I shoot right handed. For me, it's perfect position, and the gun doesn't move as I cleaning up my backside.

If I can't draw the weapon in time, I can , at least, raise my left knee a bit and shoot , usually hoping for a gut shot.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

All I am saying is that guns can very easily be turned on their owners and without the proper care or training they can actually make the situation much, much worse. Yes it is true. What can start out a simply purse snatching can easily escalate into somebody being shot dead. I personally don't feel that would like to see somebody die over a over a couple of lousy dollars. A couple of years back I met somebody who just bought themselves a new play station console and he told me how he would kill anybody anybody who tried to take it from him, and I just couldn't help thinking how stupid and short sighted that person was if he thinks a person's life is worth less than crappy game console.

It didn't take the former Ms. Venezuela carrying concealed to have her situation escalate into her own death.

Apparently that is only because Ms. Venezuela didn't have the good fortune to be born in and become Ms. Vermont.

There has apparently never been a rape in Vermont. Not even an instance of a single victim of any crime, you know, because there are no barriers to gun ownership or carrying concealed. What a paradise Vermont must be!

You cannot be trusted to carry one Your government made that choice for you along with a pocket knife that i carried to school when I was 6 years old.

You have a very simplistic view of the world.

Owning a parachute is insurance against a fall to the death. That doesn't mean that everyone needs to wear one when they leave the house.

Let's stop with the silly analogies. They don't work.

You assuming that you'll never be attacked just because it's never happened YET is every bit as silly as my analogies. That's why I use them.

I have never been accosted. But the fact remains that I might be, and you never know where or when. Packing heat is just a form of on-site insurance. It's there IF you need it.

I love how by page 2 this was already a rant about Obamacare.

You can't complain about ANYTHING here and Obamacare not slip in. Or guns.

Yep, that worked out extremely well recently for the two road rage drivers in Michigan that both carried what you call their on-site insurance. And it worked, too. It made sure that both of them are now dead following their road rage incident. Each drivers on-site insurance worked against the other. Of course, without that on-site insurance, they'd both arguably be alive today. The overall outcome is good, though. There are two gun aficionados less on the planet - that's always a plus.

Yup, that happens. As do gang slayings. With and without guns. Nothing you and I can do to stop them. Tire irons, wrenches, sheer numbers of force... all ways to gain the advantage.

Ms. Venezuela died because she DIDN'T carry an insurance policy against an armed assailant. Is she any better off than the two road rage knob heads?

OR, she died because a gun was available to create an "armed" assailant.

No.

Lucky for you you get that choice. As do the gun toters. Isn't the US great?

Yes. Criminals are why law abiding citizens are allowed to carry. The bad guys will always have guns available to them.
