I am using my wife’s mom and dad as my co-sponsors. They filed their taxes joint. So I have to use both. Do they have to fill two I-864 forms or just one?

And they are both retired but he has a part time job. Does he need a letter from his employee and pay stubs?

Shami,

You can have only 1 Joint Sponsor. That Joint Sponsor can use either their own income (and assets) only or they can include the income (and assets) of other Household Member who agree have their income (and assets) included.

Whateve income and assets are put forth, they need to be documented. The I-864 gives examples of appropriate documentation.

So that means I have to subtract my wife's mom's income? So I can only use my wife’s dad’s income? Which means I fill only one I-864, is that correct?

Shami,

No, that is not correct. You do not fill out any I-864.

Your wife fills out one (1) I-864 and the Joint Sponsor fills out one (1) I-864.

If your wife's father is the Joint Sponsor, and he is using his income only, then he reports his income only. If he will be using his Household income then he reports the sum of his and his wife's incomes and he and she jointly fill out an I-864A in addition to his I-864.
