I'm hoping someone here can assist me please.

I am from the UK and hold a full UK drivers licence, but now have to obtain a Florida licence. Was wondering what needs to be done as having looked on DMV site it's unclear whether I have to take exams and a test or just do a vision and eye exam? Hoping that someone on here can enlighten me on what exactly I would need to do as conscious that I need to get this completed asap.

Thanks, Rob.

You will need to book a full driving test both written and physical test at your dmv, you will need 2 proofs of residence, and a couple forms of ID, with all your visa papers.

I literally drove around the block once, and half parallel parked. The written test is so easy you shouldn't even study for it if you have been in America for more than a week.

In Montana the fee was 48 dollars, although somehow I got it for 9 dollars, because I am pretty good at sweet-talk, and it is Montana after all.

Paralleling parking is the one thing that worries me (I'm taking my test of Friday, weather permitting). I haven't done it since my driving lessons and I was ####### at it then. Luckily, it wasn't one of the things I was asked to do in my UK test - they could have asked me to do a 3 point turn, reverse around a corner or parallel park. They asked me to do a 3 point turn which is a doddle. Parking outside of city centers in the US is so good that I've not had to parallel park since arriving here.

What the Americans define parallel parking and what parallel parking is, is a joke. You can be alot further away from the curb, and they are a lot more leniant about giving you another go. You will be fine.

Yep! It's really easy. My whole driving test was a joke, took about 8 minutes and consisted of parallel parking, stopping and backing up, uphill parking, lane changes, turns, and other than that just driving through the neighborhood. You'll do fine.

You were absolutely right. The written test was 20 multiple choice questions followed by matching 15 traffic signs to 17 descriptions. I only got 3 questions wrong.

The driving test was about 10 minutes. About 3 times around the block. Just normal driving and reversing around a corner. It was a doddle. I don't know why I worried so much! Maybe when they know you already have a full license in another country, they don't give you so detailed a test. I would be worried if young drivers in their first test had such an easy ride.

Well, congrats! :) I actually did take my driving test for the first time (I didn't have a license back in Germany), and I thought it was too easy to actually judge someone's driving abilities. I guess all they want is to make sure you're not going to kill someone out there.
