In regards to owning and carrying a firearm you are abiding the law. But that does not make you a law abiding gun owner because to be a law abiding gun owner, you have to be a law abiding person. Yet you admit that you are not a law abiding person. You're not breaking every law but you have broken some and even have a record to show for it.

Considering that every time a person goes on a shooting rampage(Holmes, Lanza, Alexis to name a few) mental health has been the forefront. I don't think anyone with mental disorders should have access to firearms. That's just me.

I did quite a bit of Bush bashing as well. (I'm sure it's on here somewhere.) As someone who deployed from Scott AFB more than a few times in support of OEF I got to see, first-hand, just where our money was going and how effective it was at combating terrorism. The veil was lifted for me pretty early, thankfully.

As for mentally disturbed folks having access to firearms it's important to note who determines what "mentally disturbed" means. Currently, there's a push for our service members with PTSD and/or TBI to be labeled as having mental issues. Your buddy, the commander in chief, is doing his best to connect service-related injuries to "crazy right wing extremists" and, once again, bar American patriots from possessing the means to overthrow tyranny. Keep in mind too the local constabulary can pick up any random brother walking down the street and take him to the psych unit "for his own good" and that's now reported thanks to the ACA. If you can't see how that could potentially be a problem for black people, I don't know what could.

Jim Crow. Ah yes, lets bring up old stuff. I'm 100% in agreement the US treated black people horribly for the first 3/5 of our history. (No, I didn't just randomly select that fraction.) But to say anyone other than black people themselves are at fault for their own predicament today is Ludacris. (Also not an accident.) Anyone (of any color) in America today that can't figure out how to be successful has nobody to blame but themselves.

The guns probably won't be taken in our lifetime though the laws will become ever more strict so our kids and grandkids will be disarmed easily.

That you believe the bolded is astonishing. Because his vision of America and what is best for it is not yours does not mean that he hates America or that he is un American. That you have bought the line that he is says more about you and your belief system than it does about the fitness of Obama to be president.

Oh, and anyone that believes the 'govmint' is going to try to systematically brand would be gun owners as mentally unstable and have them committed just to stop them getting firearms should seek therapy, that kink of paranoia is potentially dangerous. If it is simply hyperbole, it's simply not persuasive as a reason not to like Obama or his government so it can safely be ignored as just trash talk.

I don't select them... the government does. I abide by the ones they say I must abide by in order to have the privilege of carrying a concealed handgun. That makes me a law abiding gun owner - by their definition.

If you break the law, you're not abiding the law. If you're not abiding the law, you're not a law abiding anything. You may despite infractions against the law that are deemed minor still lawfully possess and carry a firearm but you're still not a law abiding anything. You break the law, you're a law breaker. We all are.

Did you bring Bush up every time a discussion was had? I'd bet not. And he put us in this mess, yet folks can't seem to quite hate him in the way they do Obama.

Once again, look at all the folks who've went on shooting sprees that had mental illness. You want to keep putting guns in those hands? And I'm not sure, but I've never met the POTUS, so I can't be buddies with him. I don't hate him like you do.

And you're off again about black people. There are plenty of successful men and women who are harassed, jailed, or even killed because of the color of their skin. So I'm responsible for the entire race? Fine, then you should be responsible for every single person who kills someone with a gun. Fair is fair.
