Social security office said you have a wrong name as per DHS records

My mother went to social security office to apply and in their verification they found that her first name is entered wrong by DHS.

DHS recorded her first name including middle name so there are two words in her first name ...first name itself and middle name

so now there is no middle name...

Social security office advised us to go to local field office of USCIS

when we went there officer advised us two options.

1. apply for social security number under incorrect name and continue using that name for ever

2.second option to wait for green card with incorrect name and than file I-90 to correct it...and he said if its found

that it was their error there will not be any fees and new card will be mailed to you.

Now what can we do??....we already reported know that there is an error but instead of fixing it right away and stop producing green

card with wrong name they are suggesting that wait or use incorrect name....
