Hi there :) how are you all doing in a new year 2014? ;)))

I couldn't find a topic similar to mine, or I was just not looking good enough. I just checked my I-485 status on USCIS website, and, suprisingly it says Testing and interview, which means I skipped the Initial review step.. and I am really curious and a bit scared, what that means, that they want to talk to me. I've read somewhere, that not every K-1 visa holder has an interview for his/her first conditional green card, that is why it made me a bit nervous. I sent my application in November, something around the 25th or 26th. Does anyone know what should I expect? Maybe there's a paper missing, or they want to check, if my marriage is a result of a true love? Like always, I am freaking out..

HELP!

It's okay! Don't sweat it! It's normal, sometimes they just don't update the status. Expect an interview notice or an interview waiver notice! Good luck and sit tight!

It seems to be random. About 50% of those adjusting from a K-1 get an interview. It doesn't mean anything is wrong, so no worries. Those getting an interview are getting approved faster than those that are getting approved without an interview. So, if you have an interview, you will most likely get your green card faster than if you if you did not get an interview.

As Jay Kay says, those getting an interview, get approved faster!!! I don't know if it is normal or not, but I got approved within 87 days which makes it about 3 1/2 months! And you came on a K-1 so you went through a lot more hassle, they know that you have legit love. I never got a RFE and apparently neither did you, so you are golden!

Hay LadyPiret,

It's possible that you won't even have an interview at all. My girl came in on a K-1 and it went as smooth as silk. We filed on the West Coast and for some reason people don't get interviews. She just finished her citizenship interview on Jan 6th and she said it was easy. The funny thing was that a long time ago when she first came here on her first tourist visa, she applied for an extension and of course it wasn't granted and she left right away when she found out, for some reason it's going to hold up her citizenship papers. They said that they will send her some paperwork to clear it up but it's amazing that there is a problem even when there shouldn't be one. When she gets her citizenship for the U.S. there's not much keeping us here. Because you Poles can have dual citizenship we can leave and come back as we like and not have any problems. The U.S. would like it if she would renounce her citizenship but 'You can take the Pole out of Poland but you can't take Poland out of the Pole!" Good luck on the adjustment, but I know you will be okay.

Bernie, Ralph&Meghan - thank you so much for sharing your experience! And true, 'you can take the Pole out of Poland but you can't take Poland out of the Pole!' :D it's really nice to know that someone from my country went through the same process :) And it's so good to see, how many European countries' citizens, my neighbors got approved!

LadyPriet,

It didn't sound bad, i'm sure that you will be approved soon. i know the waiting can be hard but then it will be over soon. We are waiting on her citizenship paperwork which will come soon. It will be the end to a long journey but worth it. I hope that we get an opportunity to go to Poland this year, maybe in the late spring when Poland is sooooo beautiful. I have never been there in winter and would like to experience it at least once. I'm in L.A. and it's supposed to winter but with the temps in the 80's it's not winter. I expect you are experiencing more of a winter in Seattle. Does remind you of Poland? Much of Washington is very green and lush just like Poland, unfortunately it lack cultural villages like Polandgoofy.gif .

Stevephoto - sounds like there's nothing to be scared of haha! thank you!

cappucino boy - oh my, I am sososo happy for you guys, your journey will be over soon, all that waiting, papers, stress, but like you said, it was worth it!! For now, since I filed for AOS, I'll be so happy when I get my work permission, I can't wait! But, if it happens that I'll get my green card before that, that'd be even better!

Winters in Poland have been so damn cold last years haha, a lot of snow and a really cold wind. That's why I was so happy to finally be in Washington state, where winters are not that freezing, actually even today it's pretty warm outside! But we had a really cold week in late November, -9, -10 C!

Yessss, Washington weather is so similar to Polish weather, and like you said, it's really green here, I love it. We have a beautiful coast of the Pacific Ocean, as well as a desert! So pretty much everything a Polish person really needs :D

I am jealous of your hot winter in CA, I am a kind of a really warm-loving person hehe, but it's not that bad here in Seattle either.

Hope you guys can make it and visit Poland, I'd love to too, which will probably happen next Christmas. I really miss some of the things you can only get in Poland, but fortunately my beloved parents send me my favorite stuff once in a while :D We are also lucky to have a Polish Store in Seattle! It's pretty expensive, but sooooo tempting, Polish cheese and candyyyyy, pierogi, etc :D
