You can keep checking the site and see if you can get a closer interview date.

That what we are doing and praying for. But at least we now know the worst case for an interview date :)

omg,

I am still waiting for the nvc to receive my file.

wow 3 and 1/2 months, this process is getting longer by the minute.

Can you call the embassy and try to get an earlier date if somebody cancels?

Are you still allowed to keep checking for earlier times or did they do away with this option and are you stuck with the appointment you get?

I know I read this on previous forums to keep checking for cancellations, maybe I am just hallucinating from being away from my wife for what seems like all eternity

the fact that Montreal is the only place for IR1 interviews is ridiculous. Added to the fact that you have to stay there a week to get the medical done first.compounds the ridiculousness. My wife is in Saskatchewan so she doesnt have any other option that isnt worse. She is a Filipina/Canadian and told me which I verified on VJ that a filipino american fiance K1 couple started there application oct 31 and finished Jan 5 with interview. THat has to be a record less than 2 and 1/2 months start to finish. And we cant even beat that after packet 4 to the interview date. Unbelievable!

Sorry you guys you probably need a lot more cheese with all my whining,

Good luck to everyone.

You are different, the K1 have to schedule their own interviews and normally have to wait a lot longer to get them. Montreal is actually nicer to CR1/IR1 this way by giving us the priority spots first. We however, are stuck with what we're given while K1 can keep looking for cancellations and move up.

BTW the Filipino couple you were talking about were affected by the typhoon. I'm happy they had their case auto expedited. Your wife is safe in Canada with only the cold and snow to deal with, but a home at least with heat and roof over her head.

Just make sure to have everything ready for the interview! Our original interview date was March 26th, but we snagged January 9th due to a cancellation. We had a bit of a scramble to get everything ready in time. Good luck!

Yes thats always been a complaint since I have been on VJ.,..only 2 consulates in Canada that do relationship visas and only Mtl for Cr-1/Ir-1 Canada is a large country size wise..not population wise. People in other countries go through hardships as well. I'm pretty sure the folks here in Nicaragua wish they had Canada's problems, lol Hopefully the process goes smoothly for all.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

We kept checking the dates available for reschedule. I checked every day and then one day, bam I found one 3 months earlier and booked it. You should do the same.
