Greetings!

I am currently a Peace Corps Volunteer living in Ghana with my fiance. We are slowly but surely going through this whole process. We are at the medical/interview stage. I know for medical, he has to get his exam completed at either Akai House or Holy Trinity. But for the vaccinations, can he get those done by his local doctor? We are about 15 hours away from Accra, and the vaccinations are also cheaper where we are currently. Thanks in advance!

If you have a flawless record of the vaccinations you can take them to akai house and the nurses will go through and look at them then choose to accept them or not. To get all of the doses of all the vaccinations that Ghana has in-country takes about 3 months so I'm not sure what the point will be for you.. might as well wait til you guys get to the US if you are at interview stage. Or maybe get the shots that require only one dose and then the first doses of the ones which require multiple doses? Will at least save you a little money... Good Luck!

u have to get the exam from Accra, they will give u vaccination on the same day.

for the vaccination a month later, I am not sure how recognized this local doctor is, but u have a better chance with the regional hospital, and they may fill the same vaccination card that u got from Accra.

also, during process in Accra, my vaccination card wasn't looked at,

I read somewhere that the vaccinations are not required before the interview. We can wait and get them in the US and 'approved' by a civil surgeon. I can't remember if I wrote about this before, or someone already answered this, but is this correct? I just want to make sure. My fiancé is in Accra now getting his medical done, and I want to make sure before he travels all the way back. Thanks!
