CBP officer did not take brown envelope?

My wife arrived here on November 9th 2013 at Newark Airport as her POE. The CBP officer did not take the brown sealed envelope.

I've tried to discern whether this is a problem or not by reading through the forums, but it is still unclear to me.

Does anyone have experience with this?

I plan on sending the envelope in with the AOS packet.

Thank you!

Did they definately admit her on her k1 or did they let her in on a VWP. I realise she will have had the K1 but maybe they scanned her passport and saw she had a Visa waiver and stamped her in as a tourist.

I would be inclined to go back to the airport and find CPB office and sort it out there if possible.

I wonder why you have left it this long to do anything about and why did she not proffer it to them when she came in. Bit late now but just curious.

The officer saw her K1 and stamped it with the date of entry. He also wrote when it would expire (90 days). He then asked when the wedding date was along with a few other questions.

I know there are other cases of K1's who also did not hand over their envelope when they offered it.

Yeh I would have done the same if I had known.

What should I do going forward from here? Merely send in the sealed envelope with the rest of my I-485 application?

Also, the Frankfurt Embassy told my wife that the POE "rarely ask for the brown envelope."

That surprises me. I remember how at my interview they showed me the envelope and emphasized that it has to be handed over at the POE.

False alarm. I went home and talked to my wife. She actually DID hand over the sealed envelope at POE.

Miscommunication on my part. I'm relieved. But I guess I gotta work on my communication?
