Kez,

Not necessarily. If he can show to the employer's satisfaction that he has been granted LPR status he has 90 days from start of employment to show the required document - the Green Card itself.

Yodrak

You will need your Greencard before you can start work....

I agree with Yodrak on this one. The hard part will be finding a job. Most reputable employers are very careful about hiring illegals. If you can find a job and they need you to start right away I would certainly start. The real burden is on the employer. You are here legally.

The card usually comes right behind the welcome letter so it is probably a non issue by now anyway.

Hi everyone...now that your are talking about jobs  I just got here yesterday and got my work permit at JFK until March 26,I am getting marry on march 23...if u r asking why so late it is because I want to have a nice wedding :luv:

But...something really amazing happened today,I went to my ex-job(I live in NY for 19 motnhs before) to ask for my ex-position back as a cashier, but guess what...he ask me if I can work as a "supervisor"...I couldnt believe...now I am afraid to let him know that I can only work until march 26...does anyone know if there is something i can do to keep working? I have been reading that I have to quit as soon as the 90 days are over and then file again for another work permit. Is there anything i can do?

Thanks for any advise...

A> You can get married right away (civil service), file your EAD/AOS applications ASAP. Have a second nice wedding in March. Explain to your boss that you might need to be off work for a bit in March until you get the EAD, do to a tiny lag in your work authorization.

B> Tell your boss that you will need a few months off in late March and see if he is ok with it.
