Hi guys i was wondering we live in texas and the DMV (DPS) says my husband needs his green card first before he can trade his german drivers licsense for a texas one or even get a texas state ID. My question is, when filing for a green card do they need a Texas ID or my german husband? or is this a step for after he gets his green card? if he does trade his german liscense they take the german one and send it back to germany. Im not sure if that would effect the green card process etc help please <3<3<3

We have run into the same problem. I was told by the DMV I had to wait until I got my GC before they would let me take the drivers test and get a KS license. So any input would be great for us too! When we filed for AOS I did not have to have any state ID.

You don't need a state ID to apply for the green card. Most people will be in the same situation as your husband -they can't get a state ID or drivers licence until AFTER they have the EAD or GC. So it would make no sense to require a state ID/licence to apply for the EAD and GC.
