Sounds like you are saying your petition for a visa is approved so CONGRATS.

when you call the NVC they will say 8 weeks but thats not accurate normally and should move faster. I dont know about Kiev specifically. the K1 is good for 6 months from date of issue to be used to enter the country and once you have entered you should be married within 90 days. The two deadlines are independant from eachother.

Anyone feel free to correct me if I got that wrong =).

Check the department of state status site with your KEV number that you should have gotten from the NVC (you will also receive a letter in the mail from the NVC with the number on it). Once it says READY, you can schedule the interview. Kiev does not have any packet 3/4. Go to their site and under visa forms, download the PDF for fiancee visa instructions and follow all the instructions. The only thing the consulate will do automatically is send a letter to your fiancee stating that they received the petition and she can go to their site to get all the info she needs.

When I was scheduling the interview, they had slots available starting the following week (so only like half a week in advance) and there were slots available for pretty much any day. After the interview, if everything is fine and they don't need anything else from you, they should issue the visa and give it to TNT courier in about 2-3 days. Unless you're picking it up in Kiev, it will take a couple more days for TNT to deliver it to their office in your city. The visa is valid for 6 months after it's issued (you must enter the US within the 6 month period, and then you have 90 days from entry to get married).
