No Middle Name - N/A, NONE or Leave Blank?

My wife does not have a middle name, just curious what others have done in the past when filing the documents for green card.

We used "None".

I used "N/A" on mine.

Edit: I filed before the new instructions came out. On the new instructions for form I-485, it says "If an item is not applicable or the answer is 'none', leave the space blank." So I guess you would leave it blank, if I understand right.

HK12 is absolutely correct the new instructions clearly say that if it's not applicable or the answer is none to leave it blank.

Seems to me the new instructions leave more room for error in processing. I guess people had confusion over N/A and None.

We had this same problem. We did ----N/A---- on most forms, because we didn't want to leave blank to think we didn't fill in that answer, and None could be a real middle name in some parts of the world.

Thanks for the replies. Seems the standard in the instructions for each form is to be non-standard; where one form says for N/A or None leave it blank, another form says to write N/A. Guess I'll just have to go with the flow.

I just left it blank, coz I was afraid that some dumb officer at USCIS would put down "none" or "N/A" as my middle name lol

"None" or "N/A" will probably work, but you should leave it blank.

Its quite common to not have middle name for many.

I don't know which form you are dealing with, but many accompanying instruction

clearly state to leave the column blank vs. using "none" or "N/a".

OMG Im so confused! I saw lots of people getting RFE`s cause they left many questions blank, and I wonder if this is their case. The I-129F form instructions say:

Answer all questions fully and accurately. If any itam is not applicable or the answer is "none", leave the space blank.

This is an older post about the I-485 form, but the principle is the same. There are plenty of posts about this referring to the I-129F too. Follow the instructions for whatever form you are filling out. If it tells you to leave things blank if the answer would be none or N/A, then leave them blank as it states. You won't get an RFE for following the form instructions.
