I have Extraco Bank in Texas and my wife is on my account and has a debit card in her name and she is still in China ! ! ! She's had it for more then a year now and has never been to the USA yet, but she just got her Immigration visa and we have airline tickets for April 13th...

When Chinook was still living in the Philippines, and we were still going through the K-1 process, I added her onto my bank account without any problem.

The bank simply wanted to see two pieces of Chinook's ID. I showed them the bio page of her passport and another ID. A week or so later, I received an ATM card from the bank which I sent to Chinook.

The only other request from the bank was to have Chinook come into the bank and sign a document when she arrived here...which she did.

((correction)) we did not file for the green card yet as we are waiting for things like my new id in the mail etc. im just so frusterated with the bank now when i wrote this tongue.png they said due to the patriot act law he cannot be on my bank account unless he is a citizen or international customer not a legal resident green card holder. But the banker was thinink its just a passport and didnt bother to look at the visa....

What a ridiculously stupid bank, or possibly just a stupid account rep. Either verify with his manager or go to another bank.

Hi guys! we went to add my husband to my bank account today. However, they said he would have to be a US citizen or be an international customr which he obviously cannot be since he is not here temporarley. He is here on a K-1 visa we just got maried January 4,2014. Even aftr he got his green card they still say he cannot be on my bank account with me unless he becomes a us citizen. Is his a Texas law or is this everywhere? would we be better off waiting until after he gets his green card to add him to my bank? We don know what to do....huh2.gif

My fiancé and I have two accounts together in North Texas. To add him to the account, he took in his driving license and passport. No problem. He has no social, is not a USC and still resides in Scotland. It was no problem.

I like how the OP got her situation managed.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
