echo - this is not a Texas restriction. You got a replaceable human that should be back at the dog-groomers college. Maybe that's assuming too much, so let's settle on the dog-walkers college instead.

Apologies.

Hey I groomed dogs to put myself through college, it was a difficult job and it paid well! :P

This is nuts, if every bank were as dumb as this one, how would LPRs work and receive a wage? Most employers pay directly into bank accounts now don't they?

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Hi guys! we went to add my husband to my bank account today. However, they said he would have to be a US citizen or be an international customr which he obviously cannot be since he is not here temporarley. He is here on a K-1 visa we just got maried January 4,2014. Even aftr he got his green card they still say he cannot be on my bank account with me unless he becomes a us citizen. Is his a Texas law or is this everywhere? would we be better off waiting until after he gets his green card to add him to my bank? We don know what to do....huh2.gif

It sure ain't Hawaii. I added my new immigrant spouse to my checking account. We got JOINT credit cards and a bank load together! She had her green card and social security card. Perhaps the problem you are having is the bank doesn't know what the heck they are talking about. Maybe you are asking fore the wrong kind of account...an international account/customer? Maybe go to another bank and open a NEW joint checking account. Perhaps the new bank will have their heads on straight.

Good luck,

Aloha

((correction)) we did not file for the green card yet as we are waiting for things like my new id in the mail etc. im just so frusterated with the bank now when i wrote this tongue.png they said due to the patriot act law he cannot be on my bank account unless he is a citizen or international customer not a legal resident green card holder. But the banker was thinink its just a passport and didnt bother to look at the visa....

Nonsense, you need to get a new bank, it's that simple.

That is some stupid employee! I would get the manager and stop talking to the fool. Total BS.

I know people getting more than a join account with a foreign passport. I added my wife to my accounts at BofA, Wellsfargo, with credit unions with a Chinese passport.

Yes, Yes, that's why I downgraded to dog-walkers college, as a dog-groomer is actually an artist and requires some brain power.

Your bank is wrong.. we added my husband with just his soc sec card and passport didnt have an issue... you need to speak with a manager or switch banks.. there are plenty of bank customers who are green card holders.

USAA is actually a military bank, not a Texas bank. Their main office is Texas but my husband and I go through them. I was on the bank as a joint account holder before I moved!

It is not a military bank. it is a Federal Savings Bank that caters to the military.

How were you able to be added as a joint account holder before moving? Do you already have an SSN before you moved or...?

I got the same answer when I added my husband to my account. I challenged the bank, I wanted to see what law they were referring to in writing. I requested that they either add him to the account or give me something in writing stating why they could not add him. They kept giving me a form for foreigners to fill out on foreign money being brought into the US which did not apply to my husband as he is permanent resident. It got to be frustrating but once I got an email stating they would not add him and why, I adviced them that I would seek legal advice from an attorney. They called me back and asked that I send a copy of his SS card in color and they sent me the signature card for him to sign. It took me 4 months of this before they added him and we got his debit card but I was hxxxll bent on teaching them how to do their job. That bank was going to know that they were not following proper procedures and as it turned out I spoke to the main branch that has since sent out a letter to all remote branches clarifying the procedures.

I say go back and make them do their job....good luck.

I had the same problem at one of my husband's banks when I first got here. The employee said that they cannot accept me as a joint account holder unless I were a US Citizen. I told her "I don't believe that", so she went to check back with her supervisor. After verifying with her supervisor, everything worked smoothly - she just made a copy of my passport, marriage certificate, and Social Security Card, and I could join my husband's bank account without problems.

I agree with the others, get a supervisor to talk to, or try a different branch/bank.

yup we are gonna go straight to the manager she only called her manager and told him wrong info so im gonna have to talk to the manager and not the ignorant workers haha we will go back friday morning when i also order my new bank debit card. love you guys! <3<3<3
