I know I need a SSN to marry here in Idaho ..but I see we need a to wait a couple of weeks..because she might not be in system before that..

But what is next.. I mean I'm not sure whether a AOS... Green Card... LOL

Take a deep breath.... two weeks or so an apply for SSN. After you marry then you appy for AOS...

AOS *is* the green card.

You're correct in waiting a couple of weeks before applying for an SSN because it will take about that long for her to get in the system.

Get married within the 90 days of her POE arrival (sooner is always better than later!).

Then you file the AOS, which is the application for conditional permanent residency. At that time you can also apply for EAD and AP, but those are voluntary. If you apply for EAD make sure you do it WITH the AOS application.

Veronica asked what I did all day when I wasn't talking to her... I told her the Visa Process is like a College Course//Lots of studying and digging for answers... LOL

I know I'm early to start thinking and reading about this....but by the end of Jan things will start going faster for us..Since I need to wait for W2's for 2006 ..But once thats done...I will be busy just getting ready for her..and probably too nervous to set down and study for the next steps after she is here..So I'll do it for the next 3-4 weeks

Between the paperwork and all the backup information gathering, I spent about 40 hours getting our AOS/EAD package ready. If you can do it over time, it helps.

It's never too soon to start educating yourself as to the next steps. I was researching all this very early on during our K1 process. That's not to say I always understood what I was reading...the basic instructions, yes but I did come across a thing or two that I asked a question on. We filed for his SSN two weeks after he entered...married 4 weeks later. Filed AOS two weeks after that. Now I haunt the AOS threads

Your ..after your SO was there timeline looks good to me..I think I'll follow that...I know about the two week wait for the SSN...

Also I'm calling the court house today..to ask if She needs a SSN if she came here on a Fiancee Visa... If she doesn't that will speed up the wedding.. but I'll follow your timeline..

For the record, I think it might be worth re-checking into the Social Security number bit.

That's not always a hard and fast rule. Some counties require it and some don't, and those that do require it sometimes make exceptions for the foreign-born.

I suggest you go to your courthouse or registrar and speak to someone directly. If you are reading the info online (unless you are on the official website of the appropriate agency) the info you are reading could even be incorrect.
