Hey all, just passing on some more information. I decided to have a chat with my congress person, even though I know it was too early. But I had time on my hands and it was worth a shot. Even thought they said it was too early for the office to do anything, they also said that the average is 90day for NOA2 not 5 months. They did mention its an average, so it could take longer, but thats a bit better then expecting it to take 5 months.

. That is so relieving to hear. How did you contact your congress person? Did you email or call the office?

Which one did you speak to? Did you ask how they knew?

Hi Everyone!

I just recently joined VJ! I absolutely love this website it has helped me so much during the process so far.

Timeline:

Meet online (cousin introduced us) 08/03/13

Went to Romania to meet for the first time 12/19/13

Got Engaged 12/25/13

I-129F sent 01/29/14

I-129F TSC received 01/30/14

NOA1 text/email dated 02/04/14

Alien # change 02/06/14

I am the beneficiary and my fiancé lives in Italy and is a resident, but is a Romanian Citizen. In the I129F I put his current address in Italy and mailing address in Romania. As my fiancé would prefer to go back to Romania and have his interview there if approved. I hope this is OK and it won't delay our approval... sad.png

When I submitted the I-129F I did not include the Affidavit of Support form.....is this OK? Would this affect my approval? From what I read on VJ the I134 is sent to your finance after the I129F is approved.

I haven't received a RFE request to date; I am hoping this is a good sign. Still waiting for a NOA2.....I hope there is an update soon. :-)

Congrats to all that have received approvals so far! Good luck on this amazing journey.

The office of Yvette Clarke. I did not ask how they knew. They just volunteered the information because I mentioned the 5 months in my letter. I think it doesn't change it all that month if 3 months average or 5 months tops.

I wrote a letter through the email, thinking they would only say its too early. My letter was really polite and not pushy. They got back to me right away saying confidentiality release form before they can do anything. So I came into the agency with my NOA1 email (cause I'm still having issues with the mail one) and my letter stating what I was asking. I filled out some paperwork, and talked to the receptionist who was speaking to someone else first who had a more complicated matter. She tried to discourage me from following through but if I really want, I should call the representative and they will place a call for me. She tried to discourage me saying the USCIS will be really angry at them for bothering them all the time. I think I'll wait till 3 months before I call.

I'm really hoping for my fiance to get here before september because of logistics--I'm moving away to grad school, and I want to get married in NY with my family, and itll be hard to move back and forth while I'm in school.

I talked to my congressman's office, and he had a woman who handled all his immigration requests. She knew EVERYTHING. She asked about the time it took for my USCIS approval, etc. So, don't be surprised that they know those sorts of things, they could see LOTS of requests to help.

The lady I talked to was so knowledgable too! I over heard her helping this woman who has such a serious convoluted immigration issue. I was surprised at how much she know. It seemed like the information is obvious to her.

Had my interview this morning, my K1 visa has been approved and I'm getting the passport in the mail hopefully tomorrow or the day after.

Thanks for the help, everyone! I noticed that Tokyo consulate information is somewhat thin for English speakers so I may write up a review / update the Tokyo Embassy information page soon to help others.

Really not sure. Our petition wasn't filed until the latter half, so I wouldn't assume so. That being said, I don't think our case was complicated - there were no hiccups and everything was prepared in advance - so maybe I was quick.
