Any news on bio yet?

My but is itching to get out and start working. Not use to all this sitting around always worked in the uk.

Hey Nurse Ling, nothing yet, but my online status still says 'acceptance' and that they sent me instructions on the 14th...they must have meant my NOA1 hardcopy? I thought we might get an RFE for tax and not sending original marriage cert, really hope that isnt the case!

I will post on this thread as soon as I hear something.

Hey topoftherock! Ooh our timelines are so close and by my reckoning, it seems you are on track to get your bio appt by the weekend!! I really do hope so for you. (I am supposing that being located close to Chicago and Missouri is probably why I got mine so quick??)

Have a wonderful day everyone. Take care.

Thanks CJC! Fingers crossed :)

Hey Topoftherock2013

The main thing is at least your file has been accepted. Fingers crossed that whoever picks up your file doesn't pay too much notice to marriage certificate copy. As for the tax stuff what did you send?

I expect a rfe too. I did send a original of marriage certificate but like you the tax thing might be a problem. We didn't have the IRS version of the tax transcript so we sent 1040EZ for 2011'2012,2013 and all the w2 for the 3 years as well as 5 copies of recent pay stubs. I did call the IRS to order the tax transcript incase the rfe comes . Hope to get those in the mail this coming week.

I am planning on doing some tax prep work and investigation on how to get rid of cable - thank goodness for my to-do list!

Hi cjc thanks I have turned in to a e-mailbox stalker now lol. I keep checking if anything is in my inbox. Isn't it amazing how this whole process makes us behave strange lol.

Glad to hear you got your bio Appt in the post. I take it you will be doing a walkin service?

Once I get mine I will do a walkin service. Anything to get this whole process out of the way.

One of the VJ members that filed last August told me it took two months for EAD to arrive. 4 weeks before bio and extra 4 weeks for EAD to arrive. She said she recently got a letter saying the green card will take longer due to backlog. From the sound of things it sounds like USCIS are swamped right now. Fingers crossed it moves along quick.

Good morning AlphaMale! Best thing about the US mail service is that they deliver on Saturdays! Doesn't happen that way in Oz....super cool. I hope to see the words on the screen that say you and everyone else here gets their bio appts sooner than later :)

Ha ha Nurseling on the e-mail box stalking, I am so there with you. You are right, this process certainly makes us behave strangely..lol.

I was thinking about doing the walk-in but it is easier for us to wait for the appointment so hubby can plan around his work commitments. In the meantime, I have heaps of stuff to keep me busy, which is the key for me. I seriously run out of time during the day to get things on my to-do list done! (might be 'cause I spend a lot of time trawling VJ learning and talking about stuff....lol)

On the original/copy of the marriage certificate - I don't understand why there would be a problem with sending in a copy of a marriage certificate. It makes me wonder if perhaps those who get RFE's for them are the one's who have their interviews waivered? Just a thought. I could be way off but that makes more sense than some random peeps needing originals and others not? Who knows really??...lol

I was just over at the December filers forum and so far 2 peeps have received their interview letters already - that was heartening to read...exciting stuff!

Tha does sound promising to hear December filers are having interviews.

I really can't understand what difference it makes either weather the marriage certificate is original or a copy.its not like its a document you can falsify. I guess it depends on the person handling the case.

Does anyone know how they work out if a interview is required or not. Reading some of the past AOS applicant here on VJ it seems some people don't get interviews they just get their card production. Is it like a draw from a hat or something lol ;)

Seems those who's files were sent to their local office got interviewed.

Just curious to know.

I'm adding my timeline - received my biometrics today, and it's on a day I can't easily make. Does anyone know of how open the Chicago Broadway location is to walk-ins? I've had a search through a few forums but can't find any location-specific information.

My biometrics appointment letter finally came in the mail today lol. It's scheduled for 02/11/2014. Good thing though is that the Portland field office is just about 2 miles from where I reside. I might try to do an early walk-in and see if I can since the original date might not be convenient for me. I will keep everyone posted on what happens when I do the early walk-in. I wish everyone good luck and it's really cool seeing some progress being made on our cases.

Ajhigh. We have same timelines with a couple of others like CJC etc here. My biometrics date was also scheduled for the same date as yours lol.

Nurseling, K-1 visa holders do not usually do interviews when they file for adjustment of status. If you file I-130 and I-485 concurrently though, there is a 95% chance an interview will be scheduled.

Hey MaleAlpha

A friend of mine went the k1 route and she had a interview. Check out the November December AOS forums on here. Some people are getting interview letters. I don't think it's limited to I-130 filers alone. What I don't quiet understand is how they determine who goes to interview from who just gets their green card issued without interview.

You are right that almost all i130 filers are destined to be interviewed though. 50/50 chance with k1Aos filers.

From what I read also it seems if your interviewed your card gets issued quicker than if your not interviewed. Dont know how accurate that info is just something I read on this site from a few people who interviewed.

Seems yours is moving along. You going to do a walk-in?

Keeping fingers crossed for us all

Nurseling..yeah that's true. Some people get interviews and others do not. I don't know on what basis they do the selection though. I will try to do a walk-in and see if they allow me to. Hopefully they do lol. As a matter of fact I will be in the vicinity tomorrow morning so I might just go through and see if I will be successful. I will keep everyone updated on what happens. Wish me luck lol.

I'm happy to see progress with everyone's case. Looks like the online system is not reliable, it's never updated and keeps saying the same thing. At this point I will just rely on the paper Notifications.

Good morning Folks :)

Does anyone know how they work out if a interview is required or not. Reading some of the past AOS applicant here on VJ it seems some people don't get interviews they just get their card production. Is it like a draw from a hat or something lol wink.png
Seems those who's files were sent to their local office got interviewed.
Just curious to know.

Hey Nurseling, Re the interview, I really think it is random and I am fairly certain that those applications forwarded to local offices have interviews, those that aren't forwarded, don't. There is also a trend that those who have interviews seem to get their GC's sooner.

As for how the applications are assessed for that, 8th Wonder of the World! lol

I'm adding my timeline - received my biometrics today, and it's on a day I can't easily make. Does anyone know of how open the Chicago Broadway location is to walk-ins? I've had a search through a few forums but can't find any location-specific information.

1-14-14: I-485/I-130/I-765-I-131 sent via USPS

1-16-14: Priority date

1-22-14: NOA received - no RFE

1-30-14: Biometrics letter received - date of appointments: February 11

Hey ajhigh, great news on your biometrics! I did a quick search too and came up with old threads, nothing from 2013 to now :(. Might just have to give it a crack and see how you go? Good luck!

Hi MaleAlpha, great news on your biometrics letter! Good luck on your walk in!

Update for me - I got an RFE notification at 10.15pm last night (there is that time again!! lol). After reading comments on here I am guessing it must have something to do with the tax transcripts also. We only sent in the returns, not transcripts so I am going to order them online today. I initially said 'drats' but I am happy and grateful that they have sent this through now and not in 3 months time.

My USCIS case status skipped over 'Initial Review' from 'Acceptance' and is now sitting on 'Request for Evidence' :)

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning everyone.

Hi CJC. Sorry about your RFE..I wonder how it must feel to receive one of those dreaded messages. The good thing though is that they sent it early to enable you to fix it and send it back within a short time. It also gives an indication that at least some work is being done on the applications and they're not just sitting on a shelf. Please keep us informed on what the RFE is about when the mail arrives.

Did you send in W2s also when you sent the tax returns? Seems like if you're sending tax returns, they require you to send in W2s also unless you're sending in only transcripts. Surprisingly my cases online still show the same status and dates since 01/22/2014. Hopefully USCIS is giving them some attention and they're not sitting there idle lol.

Thanks for wishing me good luck..Have a great day too! And everyone have a great day as well :-)

Hey AlphaMale.. You're welcome - it is so fantastic that you have the notice, I am really happy for you :) Hopefully where you are today, it is a nice day for a stroll...lol

At first I said a swear word on the RFE, but it does mean they are working on things, which is rather splendid :) . I should get the notice tomorrow and I will be able to get together everything before my biometrics is done. I did a quick search just now on the tax stuff, I sent the W2 and 1040 into them but now I see they might be requesting the transcripts? If it is anything else, I can resend it easily enough. All this drama is like being involved in a day time soap opera....lol lol
