so happy for everyone that received their EADs and passed their GC interviews!!!! :dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing:

Good job CJC!!!! Im so happy for you!!! Way to go MaleAlpha!!! And Nurseling, so sorry you had to threaten those uscis peeps with your whip, but it all went well in the end coz you got your EAD within this week so thats grand!!!!

As for us, we got our EADs in the mail last 4/9. There was a slight hiccup as my son's got sorted at the wrong area and we had to pick his up at that other usps office so we can all apply together for SSN. We were running late and hoped for a miracle that we get processed soon and what do you know, the SSA office was completely empty when we got there!!!! What were the odds? Needless to say, we got my 2 kids' papers saying that the SSN card would be mailed out in 1-2 weeks and my SSN is good to go and need not be changed anymore since it is on my married name already and has a note saying VALID for WORK with DHS authorization which the lady said would be my EAD...so it was all good!

Thanks guys for sharing your driving test experiences as that would be helpful for my kids when they do take theirs later in 4/22.

Now, i am off to go job hunting!!! So exciting! Wish me luck guys!!!

Enjoy your weekend everyone!!!!

Thanks. I started looking for jobs about a month before my EAD was even approved lol. I was factoring in all the interview time and the actual time the company would want me to start when I eventually got the job and thought I would have had my EAD and SSN then. Looks like it worked out exactly that way. Just to give you a head start on where to look, I personally used Indeed.com and it worked out really good for me. And if you're doing it through recruiters, it is best to do it through a local recruiter in your area, they tend to be more efficient and dedicated. The one I used got me 2 positions, one for a direct hire and one for a contract to hire (in a major IT firm) but I opted for the direct hire since it came with more benefits and I didn't have to also worry about the possibility of looking for another job in the next 6 months. Good luck on your job hunting. You will get a job sooner than you realize!

~AOS : 09/11/2014 - 2 YR Green card received!.

~ROC 07/13/2017 - 10 YR Green card received!.

~N-400 : 10/28/2020 - N400 Interview & Approval/Oath Ceremony/US Citizen!

More Importantly, I am a proud Anti-Fascist!

thanks for the encouraging words MaleAlpha :luv::luv::luv::luv::luv:

i wish i could have started earlier just like you did but i was focused on waiting for my kids' EAD so they can get their SSN and help them apply first before i did....because i figured if i got employed ahead of them, i wont have the time to help them look for their own jobs later.

i am now browsing thru jobs at indeed.com as you suggested....hopefully, it wont be long....i only have 3 considerations, 1-pay, 2-job i like/enjoy doing and 3-location as i am not able to drive so it should be nearby for me to ride a bus or trolley or ask my hubby to drop me off....

trying to look for receptionist/clerical/admin work in the meantime but whatever is available, i am not really choosy:)

Good luck on your job! i am sure it pays well as i never know of any IT person that aint paid more :goofy::goofy::goofy: i am so happy for you!!! Go get em!

Hi guys, if anyone is interested, I had my AOS interview in Phoenix last Tuesday (04.08.14) with my husband. They asked me some legal questions ("have you ever been convicted of felony" etc) and then asked to see more proof of ongoing relationship. I showed them our wedding and honeymoon albums and they loved it. They approved me on the spot! All in all, it took less than 10 minutes! My green card is now in production, yay! :) :)

hi all,

i haven't been here for a while - once got back to a working mother status, i haven't had much time to do read and support other january peeps

i see things are going on well here, but i will keep my fingers crossed:)

i just came back from the interview, and the experience was rather pleasant. everything was matter-of-fact, some questions to confirm our identity, current and previous addresses, nothing personal

the officer requested copies of our kids' birth certificates, and evidence of joint assets

unfortunately, my husband's bio- form and pictures mysteriously disappeared from the packet, so he filled the form out on the spot, and the officer allowed us to bring the pictures later, which we did. she might be able to make a decision later today. let's hope it will happen.

so now i am waiting again. hopefully not for long!

best of luck to all!

June 2013 - I-130 sent from overseas

January 2014 - applied for AOS/AP/EAD

March 2014 EAD/AP and I-130 approved

May 2014 - AOS approved

Also wanted to remind people that if you like to change your or your spouse's last name, don't forget to inform the interviewing officer. Didn't see this posted anywhere but it was as simple as mentioning it once. Then we applied for SSN the same day as the interview and used the new name in that application and everything worked out ok. Good luck everyone and we will be around in case anyone has any questions and we can help.

Hi all,

We mailed my wife's AOS package in late January. USCIS received her package on January 28 and sent her NOA1 on January 31. She had her biometrics February 26, but we have gotten no updates about her application. Online it still says Acceptance for the AOS and Initial Review for the EAD/AP. Is this normal? I thought there would at least be an update after her biometrics. I just see so many people already with their EAD/AP and even their GC it makes me worry for my wife's application. Anyone else in the same boat as us? Thanks for your time and congrats to all the people that have already got their GC.
