I am a Software Developer so I am looking for jobs in that area. The company I used to work with had its HQ here so I was working here on another status in the past for about 2 years. I am currently in the job market looking but the response and progress rate has been very good especially considering the fact that Portland is an IT hub. Lots of tech personnel prefer moving to Seattle and California which makes the prospects here even brighter since there are a constant availability of jobs here. I am in the final stages of interviews with 2 companies here (after doing a phone screen, interview and 2 rounds of technical tests) - I was looking for jobs even before I got my EAD, so for now I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping to here from them latest by next week with an offer. I am also interviewing with some other companies but just on the initial first round interviews.

Hey MaleAlpha you sound like me applied for jobs even before EAD lol.

Your profession will definitely get you a good job. Looks like a offer is already on its way. You been very busy. Am sure you will agree it's not easy with this jobs search stuff doing resumes doing interviews etc. what a challenge. Hopefully things will settle down for all of us now as we get into a stable routine and a American lifestyle lol.

4/10/2014 ( 75 days) status changed after calling uscis regarding urgency of EAD. Also usps tracking number at 20.580pm

TALK OF THE DEVILS. LOL JUST GOT A NOTICE TEXT FROM USCIS MY AP AND EAD HAS BEEEN APPROVED HOORAY CHAMPAIGNE ON THE HOUSE TO ALL THE VJ MEMBERS LOL WHEN I START EARNING THE MONEY THAT IS. SOOOOOOOOOO HAPPPPPPPY NO ILLEGAL WORKER HERE LOL. STILL A ALIEN THOUGH BUT A ALIEN WITH A EAD WOOHOOOO. ROLL ON MAY FOR MY BRAND NEW JEEP. LOL

Whats a BBA?

I am a specialist critical care nurse. Did my general nursing studies then went back to do my post graduate specialist nurse course to be a Intensive care nurse. Never a dull moment on the ICU always someone codeing.

Plenty plenty jobs for nurses and good pay too. I use to travel nurse in UK and that was good pay rates . Found out here that travel nurses earn about 400-550$ Take home a day for a 12 hour shift. So yes I am just doing the paperwork to join Travel nurse Agency here too as well as the permanent job I will be starting on the 14 April. Had a few agency's contact me offering work. That's a good incentive for me to travel nurse agin lol. Is money not a motivator or what!!

oh wow thats nice. my dad is a nurse/therapist in switzerland and make a whole lot of money(that was his motivator to travel back and forth). I know there is a need of nurses and doctors in the states, too. congratulations.

I'm a graduated Bachelor in business administration and international management. I would love to work in that but i might start over new and go to a nursing school. OR do my master MBA….BUT first a job just to save up some money for college.

Yes nursing has it rewards lol.

Always good to first apply for jobs in areas that your already trained in before switching. Business administration is a area that I have seen jobs advertised in so you know you maybe surprised that you will find something in the same profession. Get your resume together and start sending it out. If all else fails then nursing school.

Yes time to stalk the mailman again...lol I really am relieved for you though. Maybe the EAD was pushed ahead by a few days at least via your expedite, hard to say, but in the end what a great way to end the week.

Come Monday I am off to the DMV to get my learners and then straight to Social Security for that name change bizzo....then job hunting like a crazy person.... :) yay!

Depends on what kind of job you are looking for. I'm on indeed.com, monster.com and google search for jobs in Atlanta, friends, family members. Im not sure about jobs on craigslist. the only thing we bought on craigslist was our lovely puppy and washer & dryer.

Hi JBForever.

I am not sure what field you are looking for jobs in but for me www.indeed.com really worked very good for me (I am in the Tech area and being in Portland might be a reason too). You have the option of putting your resume on indeed too. You will have a couple of recruiters call you but they are very good in setting you up for interviews. www.glassdoor.com is another good site to look for jobs. There are others like www.dice.com and www.monster.com but I haven't tried them. I just used only indeed.com and it works really good for me.

As a matter of personal preference I stay away from Craigslist from anything other than when I want to purchase something. There are lots of internet trolls and spam activities there.
