So, here's my experience in San Francisco for the interview:

We arrived a solid hour ahead of our appointment and just waited for things to move. After around 45 minutes we were greeted and escorted by a friendly officer.

After doing the oath, we just talked about very few basics, like I was to say the full name of my husband and his birthday and he did have to do the same. We were asked about when and how we met. After that he went through the whole casefile I sent to Chicago two months ago. We asked me the questions on the I-485 form and just basic biographical information.

After that he asked if we had any more evidence to add to the file, which we provided some.

He told us that he deems our marriage real but he'd have to do a final background check before he could approve me. When I got home I checked the website and it says "Card in Production" so I guess I am good for now. smile.png

This was pretty relaxed and easy. He was a very nice officer to begin with, so I can't tell any horror stories.

thanks for sharing your experience. i just wanted to ask if you were interviewed separately or together?

Thanks R&i journey and trust me I am really excited lol. And I am very positive your status will change either today or latest by tomorrow. And one thing is the texts/emails don't come same time the online status changes. I didn't even realize it had changed till I called their hotline, entered my case number and heard that my status had changed. The texts/emails arrived about 40 min later.

nope...i read from other's experiences that they were interviewed separately. probably to find out if their answers matched...if that is the new thing now, i am all for it coz i sure could use my husband's presence to calm my nerves down when my time is up...well, i am so happy for you:) Good job!

those are stokes interviews. those will be held if the immigrations officers already have doubts on ur marriage. most first interviews are together. If u have a second interview it will be a stokes most likely. yes, they check if the answers match.

SEE HERE

When a husband and wife did not convince an immigration officer that their marriage was real at their first green card interview (adjustment of status interview) they usually get a second chance. This second chance is known as the Stokes interview (also Known as the marriage fraud interview). The name Stokes Interview comes from the names of two of the plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit against the government that created the framework for the interview. At the Stokes Interview the immigration officer is there to determine if the marriage is bona fide or fraudulent. The immigration officer will bring the couple in to his or her office and may discuss why they believe the first interview didn't go well. The immigration officer will go over the procedures of the interview and then will separate the husband and the wife from each other. Once separated the immigration officer will ask very personal and invasive questions to one of the married couple and then the other. The interview will be recorded and the statements will be compared for discrepancies against each other. The immigration officer will then bring the couple in together and give them a chance to explain any discrepancies. It is the couple's job to explain the details of their life and convince the immigration officer of their genuine relationship. If the couple's answers matched and convinced the immigration officer of their relationship then their case will be approved. However, if the immigration officer is not convinced and has reasons to believe the marriage was created for the purpose of getting a green card, the immigration officer will deny the case.

yeah, tell me abt it...i am so bored right now i can use some glimmer of hope so i can get on with the applying stage...i tried applying to some establishments (starbucks or ralph's coz of my kids and they are nearby our place) but they all require a SSN or state ID and the darn DMV wont issue me one because my I-94 is already less than 60 days from expiring....and they wont listen to reason (i.e. i would have applied earlier but their latest appt available date was 1/31 and i cant really stay the whole day because we have no ride that would have that much time in their hand to accompany us)

same here. all is based on the EAD. my SSN and DMV. I gave up on applying for jobs. I just wait until I have the card.

Now I feel like I should have applied for the I-131 when sending in the original package. I thought the green card would have been adjudicated in a short period of time. I will have to go back home within the year since this status adjustment wasn't planned and I need to get some things taken care of. If by the end of this month I don't hear anything regarding an interview date, I will go ahead and file the I-131 and hopefully get it in time to enable me go back home.

Hey guys got approved for EAD today!

Very happy...but my AP is still the same, initial review...is this normal? Because all I need asap is AP.

I'm still really pleased nonetheless! :)
