Medical w/o vaccination records

Hey guys,

If I don't have my vaccination records readily available for my full medical exam, will the doctor re-vaccinate me with everything I would need anyway?

Or, would I need my old records before they even touch me with an injection?

Note: The medical exam is taking place inside the US.

Thanks for any info

I was in the same situation and I had to have all the vaccination done here in the US.. I had had some vaccinations done in the UK for a trip abroad the year before but I had no record of them and it was going to take weeks to try and get a copy from my old doctor....

I had all the vaccination done at a health center and it only cost me $15 in total.. so shop around if you have to have them done..

Good Luck

Kezzie

Just got a RFE stating we have to have another medical exam. When checking with civil surgeons we were told that if you do not have records of vaccinations you have had, you will have to have them again. Fortunately we have the records. Also glad we kept the chest x-ray as we won't need to do that again since we have it.

Good luck!!

Ahh ok, Thanks for your help Kezzie :)

I was wondering if it was actually possible to have the vaccinations again (or if it would harm you), good to know. When I asked the receptionist the same question as I did here, she replied with "you'll have to ask the doctor." ... umm great, thanks!

Do you know if it's routine to simply redo all the vaccinations if there's no records available? Another place I called said that they'd try and "request" the records if I didn't have them, but then they were unsure and gave the "ask the doctor" line again.

The price the receptionist gave me over the phone for the full medical was about $150, which turned out to be waaaay cheaper than the other ones I called ($300 - $600). Talk about arbitrary pricing...

You don't have to have all your shots again. Request from your normal doctor that you have titres taken for the immunisations you require proof of (MMR, Td). This can be done at the same time as they take blood for RPR (Syphilis) and HIV, it's just another vial. Get a copy of the results, and provided they are in the appropriate ranges, the civil surgeon shouldn't have any problems filling out the vacc supplement.

I guess the titres are a little expensive, so the above would only work if covered under your medical insurance.

I had the choice of being tested to see what vaccinations I needed but this was going to cost $50 for each test....

I only have to pay $15 to have the shots do again... I had them done at the local Health Dept clinic.. then took the vaccination work sheet to the civil surgeon and she added the info to the medical papers..
