Good morning everyone,

We are adjusting status from a K1 visa and my wife received her combo card. We got married in September and sent the AOS forms in October. Elizabeth had her biometrics on December 3rd. This was a very fast process compared to the wait we had for the K1. The guides at the top of the screen were spot on and helped us without a RFE. Here are a few items I would like to share.

  1. The USCIS web site was updated very often with the progress of our AOS. Simply typing in the three MSC receipt numbers and checking the status.
  2. On December 31st the USCIS web site showed our case as approved and had a USPS tracking number. When I went to the US postal service web site to track the package I saw the package was sent priority mail 2nd day and USCIS insured the package for $100. The package was mailed from Corbin, Kentucky 40701. Maybe USICS has a facility there that produces the combo card?? The package did not require a signature. Elizabeth stayed home the day the package was scheduled to arrive and we were expecting the postal worker to come to the door and have Elizabeth sign for the package. Nope it was left in the mail box. Elizabeth had been waiting for the mail to arrive and when she saw the postal worker stop at our mail box she went out and got it out of the mailbox.
  3. Within the package there was a notice that explained everything about the card, work authorization/advance parole. I have read a few stories about people having problems with the airlines not knowing what the combo card is and what is advance parole. On the USCIS notice we received it stated “presenting a valid combo card will authorize a transportation operator to accept you on board for travel to the United States without liability under section 273 of the Immigration and Nationality Act provided that you arrive in the United States on or before the expiration date on the card”. We are traveling to Mexico City in a few months to see family and we will bring the USCIS notice with us just in case a Delta Airlines employee at the airport in Mexico City is not well versed with the combo card. At the bottom of the combo card it states “Serves as I-512 Advance Parole”
  4. The total cost for AOS is $1070. Yes the total cost for AOS is $1070. Did I mention the total cost for AOS is $1070? Sorry but I have seen so many questions about how much it costs!

That is about it and we are waiting for the green card now. I know we have a 50% chance we will have an interview and are ready for it.

May God Bless each and every one of you.
