Hello guys...I had applied for my wife's US Permanent Residency (F2A) category on 4th February, 2013 and finally it got accepted in November, 2013 by USCIS and the application was handed over to NVC as per the usual norms.

Now, I am currently looking for jobs in the USA and hence would like to wait until I get a job and then file for the DS-261 online form with NVC to start the entire process with NVC.

I have a few questions in this regard which are as follows :-

1) I have an income of around 20,000 $ in 2013 from my part-time work which I hope is enough to meet the 125% of US Poverty Level guidelines for a family of two. However, I want to wait until I get a full-time job (hopefully soon) which should be much higher pay as compared to the previous part time work which I did. Am I doing something wrong over here? Also, I have checked the US poverty level to be $ 15,510 for a family of 2 people, so am I in a good position right now?

2) Once I complete the DS-261 online form, can anybody give me a rough idea of how much time it will take from then on to get the US Permanent Resident visa? I have checked the US State Dept. website, my application with NVC has a CURRENT priority date so we don't need to wait if the documents are OK.

I really hope somebody out there can give us their advice from their own experiences of dealing with this issue first hand in the last few months.

Thank you!

you control the pace at NVC, so keep that in mind .

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
