Just curious, how many here plan to obtain citizenship for your asawa. Will you do it...

At the 3-year mark?

Later? (if so, why wait?)

Never? (if so, why?)

I guess many on here these days are focusing on GETTING a K1, not so many who are already married seem to be around (or are not willing to share their plans).

Jena has been in the US since 2007 and we still haven't dealt with citizenship yet. We're just lazy I guess. We always find some reason to put it off. Now the plan is to start working on it this coming fall 2014 after returning from Phils. smile.png

hypocrit - a person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, especially one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.

Pet Peeve for 2011 - supercilious, contemptuous, arrogant, attitudes.

Plan is maybe to apply for citizenship when my 10 years GC is about to expire on 2021. No rush. We are taking a break with those papers again and the USCIS status lol. Right now, we are just focussing on our family and a normal life together.

Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years.

My wife has been here almost 1 1/2 years and we are planning on doing it right away. One reason for is easier travel for us all over.

Question; isn't it required for my wife to get citizenship in order to get her mother over?

For petitioning parents, yes, she needs to be a US citizen.

As apple21 said, you must be a USC to petition a parent.

Here's the link Hank meant to post: http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/ilink/docView/AFM/HTML/AFM/0-0-0-1/0-0-0-3481/0-0-0-5840.html

Thanks guys/gals.. I haven't looked at that yet. Probably should start. We have been working on BC and I.D's for passport and its a battle. Correct spellings, birthdates don't really mean much in the province on a little Island..
